Hey guys,

I'm looking into applying to the university's School of Architecture for EA, and I would like some opinions on my chances of getting into the university.

GPA: I know NEU looks at weighted so I'll just give you that, 3.3 weighted
ACT: 28
ECs: I've been in my school's Student Government Association since sophomore year as a class representative. I've also been in Green Club and Fashion Club since junior year. Last year I volunteered at the Nashville Humane Association. I'm currently working at Laser Quest, for 3 months now, and plan to work there until next summer. I am also in a Freshman-Senior mentoring program.

I'll be graduating with 12 honors classes and 7 AP's. I attend a highly ranked rigorous magnet school and my grades have improved GREATLY since sophomore year. I'm a first generation college student and I am African American.

Thanks.

hmm considering your gpa is quite low, it might be a tough situation, but you’ve taken quite a lot of AP’s and you have a fairly reasonable ACT score, so i think its a 50/50 shot! good luck!

Comparing to the Academic Profile on the Northeastern website ([Academic Profile | Admissions](http://www.northeastern.edu/admissions/apply/profile.html)), your grades/ACT are a bit low. A big upward trend should definitely help, though, as should your rigorous class choices. Still a 3.3 weighted is quite low. How does this compare to other students at your school, though? If your school tends to be tough on grading, and your GPA gives you a fairly high rank, you might be OK. Being first generation/URM might also be a boost.
I feel like Northeastern is a reach, though. It’s possible that the EA result could be to defer you until RD. Do you think that your current grades would improve your GPA and therefore your admissions prospects? If so, you are better off waiting until RD to apply and present your strongest application than apply EA.
