SAT: 2080 (680 reading / 680 math / 720 writing)
SAT II- Math 2: 710; Lit: 710
GPA: 3.84 / 4.0
Rank: 44 / 387

Class load: AP Econ/AP Gov, AP Lit & Lang, AP Calc BC, AP Physics, Italian 1 (I took Spanish up to AP 4, and then 5 got canceled, so I'm taking this at the JC), Journalism (I'm Editor-in-Chief) and Newspaper Production.

I'm president of the Creative writing club, have a ton of awards from journalism, am a peer mentor (I tutor freshman at my school), have two internships on my resume at the local paper, perform in Dance, and have participated--and received awards--in Academic Decathlon.
I'm majoring in English.
Thanks in advance!

For last year’s UCLA freshman class the overall GPA averages (fully weighted) were as follows:
All applicants = 3.93
Admits = 4.40
Enrolled = 4.31

Last years overall GPA averages (unweighted):
All applicants = 3.56
Admits = 3.88
Enrolled = 3.84

Looks like you"re on target with rigorous classes, GPA, test scores and very focused ECs especially if pursuing an English major.

Be aware, because UCLA attracts thousands of strong applicants like you, there is no doubt the deciding factor will be writing excellent personal statement essays.

You have a decent chance of getting in since, as the person above stated, your stats are right on target with last year’s averages. At this point, it all depends on your personal statement and ECs, and your ECs seem strong.

Although, of course, I’m 100% certain your demographics play a part in admission to. If you lived in a upper middle class, white and asian neighborhood with a competitive public school like I did, that might not be enough. Last year, they basically scooped up the top 2% of my school without regards to ECs (and I’m sure of that because I have friends who have amazing stats but little ECs that got into UCLA but not Cal and friends with pretty good stats like top 3 - 5% and amazing ECs that got into Cal but not UCLA). I currently attend UCLA, and my stats were as follows:

Board member of club for all 4 years, 1 of which as VP and 2 as President
Hospital volunteering (senior year) and doctor office internship (summer)
10 AP Classes - Score 4 on 3 tests, Score 5 on 7 tests
SAT: 2180
SAT II: (US History) 750 (Lit) 700 (Bio) 710
GPA: (weighted) 4.61 (unweighted) 3.9-something
