*Good Recommendations
*ASSUMING I HAVE GOOD ESSAY

I’m gonna say Low Reach. GPA and SAT holding you back

Low Reach? oh gosh…

Tough to say but similar to jibler, GPA and SAT could provide some difficulty but the trend is in the right direction and you have great ECs. However, Northeastern had a new student day a few weeks back and to say it was a mob scene is an understatement. It totally surprised the admissions office. This leads me to believe that the applicant pool is growing substantially and the competition will be fiercer than usual.

Hope I can get in! anyone else?

You should at least get wait listed. Your GPA honestly sucks, but your SAT isn’t too bad. Your course load is really impressive, too. NEU admissions calculates your GPA bases off of course load and grades, so your GPA that they calculate could be higher. Your ec’s are great, too…
However, getting into NEU becomes harder each year. Based on last year’s stats, though, I’d say NEU isn’t quite a match, nor quite a reach. Annndddd… I’m no expert.
I still think you have a decent chance, though. Factor in your rec letters and common app essay. I think you deserve to get in.

@ HerroRinaa
“Your GPA honestly sucks” Ouch that’s a bit harsh towards OP? OP has lots of APs.

OP have hope. You have 8 APs under your belt and honors, which is pretty impressive compared to most NEU applicants. However, you slacked off during junior year and admissions officers tend to focus on junior & senior year. Your ECs are really good.

Bottom line is, it really depends on your school and the other applicants applying from your school. They will compare you to the other applicants from your school. Also, check your school’s naviance.

On my school’s naviance it says that the average accepted applicant from my school to NEU has a GPA of 3.19, however my school tends to have tougher courses (the general courses are at honors level). It varies depending on the school, location, applicants, etc.

In my opinion, I think that you’d get in.

Thanks guys haha
Hero i just took that as “constructive criticism” lol
Hope I do get in!

did anybody else not have their guidance counselor send in their first quarter grades? mine completely forgot about it…

Did not send in 1st quarter grades as they were not requested.

@aznrobot9 and op

Gotta be honest. I had no ill intentions when I said that. Plus, look here: [Academic Profile | Admissions](http://www.northeastern.edu/admissions/apply/profile.html)

Inner range of accepted students’ GPAs is 3.7 to 4.3 on a scale of 5. I spoke to a rep a few weeks back, and they said this was based on the GPAs they calculated and rescaled themselves. I dunno what scale your weighted GPA is on, though. 4? 5?

And as aforementioned, NEU recalculates your GPA based on your course load. You’re standing at a 3.47, not that far from the range of acceptance. And it hasn’t been scaled yet, either. But I don’t know how much it will go up, because I don’t know much about your grades.

PS. My stats are 4.0/4 weighted GPA and 42/429 rank (In one of the crappiest schools in Massachusetts. That’s not good for me.), 32 ACT/2000 SAT, similar ECs, 10 APs and the rest honors. Also bilingual (Viet/English) My rec letters made a single tear roll down my cheek. My guidance counselor said I would probably be accepted. Our stats are kind of similar, but I doubt your high school is as lowly ranked as mine. The only thing that stands really between us is our GPAs as calculated by our schools, but that shouldn’t be much of a problem considering how NEU redoes that. But how can we guarantee that?

PSPS The early action acceptance rate is higher than the regular decision one. Plus the ones accepted in early action have lower stats than the norm.

PSPSPS Some majors are harder and more competitive to get into than others. Apparently the hardest ones are science and business(?)- although I can’t remember where I got that info. Check in with somebody else. I know somebody who got waitlisted as Undecided, who then changed his major to Linguistics or something and got accepted. (Coincidence? I dunno.)

Thanks guys so much! Anyone else?

Could you chance me?

What is your major (cant understand why most chancers never put this) , what state are you from, and are you looking for federal aid?

This is important info needed. Your amount of AP taken are good but GPA and rank are low for NU, but you did work, good ec, sign language, and sports… so hopefully someone will look and understand this.

@collegetiger I will be applying to CAS for mathematics. I am from Virginia and yes, i will be looking for federal aid.

bumpppppppp
