I think you sound pretty good for admission to the university itself. Admission to Smith School of Business is trickier …your weakness is class rank, but if you attend a school that is well-known as highly competitive, that may be taken into account. Best of luck!

Totally agree with maryversity. I would feel better about your chances at Smith if you would have applied by the priority deadline. Smith is so competitive. Hopefully you’ll make it in. Good luck!

You’re money. I don’t know why UMD would turn you down. They can decide on whether or not to admit you to Business once you’ve proven yourself. In the meantime, they’re going to get your OOS money without dispensing any merit.

Yeah, only child from one of the higher income brackets, don’t think Ill be getting a cent of financial aid but Maryland has an awesome business school for a decent OOS price.
If I do not get accepted into the BUS school whats the deal? Is it similar to Michigan’s program where I apply again after my first year or two? Or am I SOL?!

here’s a website for all UMD’s LEPs:

[Office of Undergraduate Admissions · University of Maryland » Applying to a Limited Enrollment Program](http://www.admissions.umd.edu/apply/LEPApplication.php)

basically, you need to be finished with your first 45 hours and working toward your 60th to apply.

I didn’t know about your family’s finances, but because you didn’t apply by the priority deadline you couldn’t get merit.

As jkeil911 said, you can reapply. My daughter is a finance major at Smith, and my understanding from her is that people certainly do transfer in…but it is extremely competitive. I’ve heard that many students switch to Economics if denied from Smith. Hang in there though. I think you have a good shot at Smith.

For those 45 hours, do AP’s apply to those?
Also thanks a ton guys, confirmed what I had been thinking, I think I should probably get in but the Business College is a toss up.

I don’t think the AP credit counts.

^^^quite right, terpmom:
