Good chances! Good luck!

It goes without saying that your ACT scores and your GPA easily qualify you to study at this school. Now for extracurricular activities and other stuff: 11 years of hockey, WOW. No wonder you are the captain. Are you an NCAA possible recruit? Good chances I would say. Please do take the time to chance me too: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1663849-chance-me.html#latest

Fantastic chances!

@newyork21 and sdkks: No way to tell an applicant’s chances. College admissions is a crapshoot. Someone who gets into Harvard may be rejected at Dickinson College, for example. No clear reason why, and that’s my point.

Your GPA and test scores are great. AP Comp Sci is quite low, though. Colleges want students who will ultimately become leaders in whatever they are really good at because this brings reputation to the school. Find what you love to do and what you are really good at and do ALL of your activities based on that “specialty.” For example, if you like writing, become president of the Writing Club or chief editor of school newspaper, start a small club or organization that helps others improve writing skills, publish news articles in a magazine or newspaper, etc. Writing, writing, writing. Then, it’s up to Cornell to decide if you’re a great writer and good fit for the school. There’s no such thing as “chancing an applicant,” since college admissions is a crapshoot. Right now, you’re just doing a bunch of different stuff with NO focus at all, and NONE of those activities are helping you in this process. Specialize in something now before it’s too late. Hope this helps!

@LPaige15 and yikes: If you think ANYONE except recruited athletes has a good chance of getting into a top university, you’re dead wrong. Not meaning to be harsh or anything, but NO ONE has a “good chance” of getting in any top 25 university in the US News and World Report.

@darkray2000 , I mean this with no malice, but you seem to be a bit confused at what a good chance is. NO ONE (at least I hope not) is saying that any applicant aside from recruited athletes has a guaranteed chance for getting into a top 25 school. But a good chance? Absolutely! I applied to 14 schools (12 in the top 25) when I did college applications, and had “good” chances at all of them. Did I collect a couple waitlists? Sure. But I also knew that at different schools my chances of getting in were very good, even though those schools were in the top 25. My school had a program called naviance, and you could see that even at the best schools in the country, certain scores altered your chances of getting in and made them good. Again, I don’t want to start an argument or anything, but just wanted you to understand why people post chance me threads on here. Also, OP, seeing your ecs, I can see a common thread there…you are a natural leader who is inclined to forge your own path and support the sciences–just make sure colleges see it! Best of luck. You’ve done score wise what it takes to get in the pool, now try and distinguish yourself a bit and write true meaningful essays!
