I know that this might be useless but I thought I'd give it a go anyways:
I am American and want to attend the University of St. Andrews
I have a 3.3 weighted GPA
1870 SAT CR: 630 M:590 W:650
ACT:27
By the end of my senior year I will have completed 4 AP classes and 5 AP tests
I attend one of the top 20 public schools in NJ and top 300 in the nation
Volunteered at my local nature preserve through sophomore, junior and senior year
Played and performed classical piano for 12 years
Internship with my Congressman
Played soccer for 10 years
I have a part-time job

The great thing about UK unis is that they they tell you what they want and generally if what you have matches what they want you typically will get an offer. Equally, if you don’t meet the requirements you typically don’t. So, it’s pretty easy to chance yourself. They do give conditional offers, based on achieving the required scores on tests you have not taken yet.

In general, they are not interested in ECs, unless they relate to the subject that you are applying to study. You apply to study a specific subject, not to just go to the university, and in general you study just that subject.

Something I am slightly confused about is whether or not the stats listed on the website are flexible; American Universities tend to have very flexible admissions policies. I figure I will send my application in no matter what because I really do love the school, I just wanted to know if I even had a chance.

The high school I attend does things kind of unconventionally so it is hard to tell if my GPA would actually match up with what colleges are putting out considering my school does not give A+/-, B+/-, etc. we just get graded with a neutral letter grade whether it was an 89 or an 80 it will be a simple B, so my GPA would be higher if I was given + or -.

Also I am assuming that EC’s are the equivalent to AP’s; I am planning to study sustainability development if admitted to St. Andrews however, there are no AP classes that pertain to this subject but I’ve taken AP US history, AP French, AP American government, AP Language and Composition, and self studied AP Comparative government so I think that they relate to the fact that I do not plan on going into a science or math.

Thank you so much for your reply, I really appreciate it!

ECs are extra-curricular activities, such as soccer or piano or volunteering at the nature center, not tests.

You might want to do a little more homework on what the course in sustainable development entails. It is offered though the faculty of science, through the school of geography and geophysics:

Can you retake the SAT or ACT? St Andrew’s tends to be generous to full-pay internationals regarding admission; but your stated stats are a bit low at present. You don’t mention what scores you expect to get in the AP exam - that’s critical too; because these are not graded by your school they’re a more reliable indicator for the college. They ask for three As at A level for British applicants, so you’d really need to be getting 5s.

I can’t see anything official about subjects, but another site I don’t think I’m allowed to link to here suggests you need to have at least one of your APs in one of bio, chem, CS, geography, geology, math (calculus), physics, psychology. However, this may only be for the BSc version of the course.
