I just applied to USD and it is my VERY TOP CHOICE! I won't be applying for financial aid and I am from the midwest. I attended a private Catholic high school and took very rigorous courses all throughout. I also made it clear on my app that it was my top choice and I've been in contact with my admissions counselor a bit.

Here are some stats:
-SAT: 1800 overall but I'm taking it two more times!
*560 math
*610 english
*630 writing
-My GPA is only about a 3.1 composite but my first semester of senior year I took 3 AP classes and an honors class and received a 4.0
-My essay is really really good, not trying sound like a total snob, but I'm just really hoping that helps my chances!

Anyways, anyone who's gotten in or thinks they know my chances, let me know, I'm horrible at just sitting around waiting for a letter in the mail :)

I’m just going to add my two cents because I am also applying to USD as well.

First, I am going to say this is all just me guessing and using the online info to place you. If you want a better guess ■■■■■■■■■■ (might get in trouble for saying this) has a chance calculator if you type in all your info, so that might help.

1800 SAT is about average for the school. I also believe USD does not really focus on the writing portion of the SAT. On CC it says 3.9 unweighted GPA but that is bs. It is probably a 3.9 weighted (On USD’s website it says 3.88 GPA weighted), so take that as you will. Suggestion, really work on Math SAT. Its your only score under USD’s 25th percentile.

Also, the school is very big on community service, so if your extracurriculars show philanthropy, it can only help your cause. I don’t know how much going to a Catholic high school helps but it defiantly cannot hurt.

PS. I don’t know how your schools GPA works or how you measure up against the rest of your school, so I am bias to how my school works.
