Chance me please.

American citizen studying in Bangladesh. I have given my O and A levels under the British EDEXCEL system and the SAT 4 times .-.
Yup, 4 times. And still not over 2000. But anyway, I've been interested in UW Seattle for quite a while and am hoping to get admitted into the institution to study Computer Science. My Stats:

O Levels:
Maths, Pure Mathematics and English Language- A*
Physics and Accounting- A
Bengali- B
ICT- C

A Levels:
Maths and Pure Mathematics- A
Physics- C

SAT: 1650, 1760, 1850, 1870
1870- Maths 700, Reading 530, Writing 640(Essay 8)
super score of 1920- Maths 700, Reading 580, Writing 640(Essay 8)

I know. I'm embarrassed about doing poorly so many times, especially given the fact that English is my first language and am more than proficient in the language.

EC's:
Music- Drummer in a band 3.5 years, Vocalist in a band 1 year.
Sports- Played football in and out of school, golf and tennis in a local club. All for 4+ years. No school football team. Received a runner up award for a tournament in tennis. But I mostly played these sports for fun and will continue to do so.

We don't have GPAs in my school system, but my overall high school average percentage is greater than 80%. I'm confident in my entire application except for my SAT. I know UW Seattle is more focused on the essays and school records rather than the SAT, but obviously given my circumstances I should be worried. I wrote both the required essays for UW and had them checked by some people. I was told one was good and the other was quite great. I usually don't think much of my essays and don't want to sound obnoxious and what not, but I enjoyed the latter essay and thought it was great.

I've already applied for the computer science major at UW Seattle for Autumn 2015 and am hoping to receive that acceptance letter. I was just wondering if anyone could chance me. If any other info is needed, let me know. I'll be glad to send anything, including the essays, in a private message.

P.S- Also applying to UCI, UCSB, UCSD, UCLA, UCB, Purdue, UBC in Canada as an ultimate backup, UMass Amherst, UT Austin and some others. But those are my main ones. If you have any opinions on those, I'm open to all comments.

anyone? .-.

Don’t sweat it. I’m CERTAIN that you will get in. UW Seattle is not too hard to get into. I’ve known people last who were accepted with above average GPAs (3.5 range).

Except it is quite a bit harder to get into an engineering program directly from HS as the OP seems to be describing. The CS department notes GPAs ranging from 3.4 to 4.0 and I wouldn’t assume a normal distribution there.

Another way is to get into the UW first, do some required courses and then use the regular application process to get into the engineering department of choice.

I’m not applying for the engineering program. Going for the College of Arts & Sciences Computer Science program. So I guess its not an engineering program, since I’ll have a B.A and not a B.S.

There is no Computer Science Dept. in A&S. It’s in the College of Engineering.

I’m not aware of a BA offered, either.

*The Department of Computer Science and Engineering offers the following programs of study:

The Bachelor of Science degree with a major in computer science
The Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering degree (see Computer Engineering section)

Bachelor of Science
Department Admission Requirements

Applicants are considered in two groups: Direct Admission and regular admission. Admission is competitive. Completion of minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.

Direct Admission: Computer Science and Engineering enrolls up to 30 percent of its incoming class directly out of high school, prior to the completion of university-level prerequisites. Freshman applicants to the University listing computer science or computer engineering as their intended major are automatically considered. Competitive applicants have taken calculus and at least one year of laboratory science (preferably physics) upon entering the University. Admission is for autumn quarter only.
Regular Admission
Course requirements: MATH 124, MATH 125, MATH 126 (or MATH 134, MATH 135, MATH 136); at least five credits of Natural World, including one of the following: PHYS 121, CHEM 142/CHEM 145, or BIOL 180 (or any approved science course that requires one of these courses as a prerequisite); CSE 142, CSE 143; and at least five credits of English composition. In addition to any AP credit, at least one calculus or post-calculus mathematics course and one approved Natural World courses must be completed prior to applying to the department.
Admission is for autumn or spring quarter. Application deadlines are July 1 for autumn quarter and February 1 for spring quarter.*

Okay I messed up. I applied for Computer Science CSCI 0015 as my primary major and Computer Engineering as my secondary interest. I got this information from the application website which shows my completed application.

And I don’t think its B.A, its probably B.S.

I don’t think that affects your chances for regular admission. You have a reasonable shot at getting regular admission so you can spend a couple years working hard to make the engineering application.

Cool thanks
So regular admission basically means I’m in the Uni, but i have to spend extra time at the uni to get into the engineering department? Like, I’d have to spend my first two years trying to get into the department?

You’re expected to take prerequisites and still finish in four.

Okay. Thank you

Still open to more predictions

@JustOneDad they asked me for my unofficial transcripts. They dont ask freshman to send them. I think they only asked for it because I’m different compared to the other freshman, academically speaking. Do you think I should be worried? .-.

How will it help to be worried?

It won’t. But I’m just worried I won’t get in .-.

Isn’t getting in to the CS program a bigger hurdle than getting admitted to A&S in the first place?

Yeah apparently only 30% get into that as D.A. But I have no problem with just getting into the University, then working hard to get into the CS program. I already know D.A is a long shot. I’m more worried about getting in now. I don’t think my gpa is good enough for UW. I’m not even sure how to calculate it cause we don’t receive gpa’s. But if I use the normal method, my O level gpa would be 3.57 and my A level gpa would be 3.33. That second gpa is freaking me out. I’m not sure if they consider the A levels for admission or credit.
