I am a current IB Diploma candidate from a small town in Georgia. I am curious what my chances are on being accepted early decision.

I understand that my first two years of high school were not great but there are special reasons for it and I plan to explain them in my essays.

You have some things going for you. Better grades as a junior is the main thing, and the fact that you are Hispanic I think helps. Can’t comment really on the SAT because that’s just a goal. You might not get that. A compelling reason for the low grades the first two years of high school could be a plus. If you are really interested in Vassar (I assume you are a junior now), I suggest that you apply Early Decision. The acceptance rate is higher, BUT that’s MOSTLY due to the fact that so many of them have pretty much been guaranteed admission (recruited athletes, etc.), however, I believe your chances are still a LITTLE higher for ED as it really shows your interest in the college.

If you get an SAT score above 2100, then I say you have a decent chance of being accepted. If it’s under 2100, then I think you have a slim chance.
