Chance me please?

I got rejected from UCSD for BioE, so now I’m super paranoid about UCLA and UCB. Do I have any chance at all? Please be brutally honest lol.

Bump

I personally think you have a good chance. Some people get rejected at the lower UC’s (relatively lower ones) but still get into UCB and/or UCLA.

Your SAT is around the lower end of UCLA’s top applicants, however. According to their website, 18% of applicants had an SAT from 2100-2400. And only 56% of those were admitted. What major did you apply for at UCLA? I noticed your activities/awards don’t necessarily correlate with an interest in bioengineering. Also, what courses are you taking this year?

@Indubitab1y‌ thanks for your feedback! I applied for bioengineering. I did an internship with Berkeley’s BioE program the past summer and won third place while presenting my research project at a symposium. I am currently taking 4 APs (bio, stats, gov, and eng) and I took Calc last year.

I don’t know why you were rejected. Your stats look like you would have a good chance of getting in at UCSD at least as undeclared if not for your major, which is what happened to me. I’d say you have a good chance at UCLA and hopefully it goes better than UCSD’s decision. I’m also waiting on UCLA’s decision and hope that if I do get accepted, it’s for my major

@stressed4lyfe‌
Ohhh… That major is incredibly competitive. I know a couple people who were admitted from my school under that major. The only thing is, they’re both UC Berkeley Regents.

But anyway, best of luck to you! Only a couple more days 'til UCLA decisions…

@Indubitab1y‌ UCLA decisions come out on March 20, so there are 5 days

@Dhruv97‌
Yes…lol

@Indubitab1y‌ I just hope ucsd is easier than ucla to get into for BioE. But I know that ucla is the overall more competitive school. Anyways, enough about me. What do you plan on majoring in?

@stressed4lyfe‌
Human Biology or Neuroscience (or some combination thereof). I’m planning to go to medical school. The problem is, I’ve heard pre-med is very competitive too haha

The struggle of endless lol. Good luck!

You too haha

Brutally honesty…if you got rejected by UCSD, you will get rejected by UCLA. You have the grades and test scores but what I don’t see is ECs or any ECs that demonstrate leadership or long-term committment in any sort of fashion. Getting into UCLA is more than putting up grades and scores…and so apparently is UCSD. Sorry…just stating facts.
