Chance me please

I know this is may be a bit too early to “chance me” but it never hurts to ask. I am a rising North Carolina sophomore in a public school.

SAT - I haven’t yet taken the SAT, or the psat, but my tutor believes I have a very good chance to take the SAT before it changes format and knock it out with a superscore. However, I did take the practice SAT through College Board and my score is as follows: 720 Math, 670 Reading, and 560 Writing, 1950 composite. Goal superscore of a 2310 or up.

AP - I did not take any APs my freshman year (I was not allowed to) but during my remaining three years I am planning on taking: AP Chem (Sophomore), AP World (Sophomore), AP Environmental (Sophomore), AP Lang, AP Lit, AP Calc AB, AP Cacl BC, AP Stats, AP Bio, AP Physics I/II, APUSH, AP Euro, and AP Psych.

Summer - This current summer I served as a house page at the NC House of Representatives. Next summer I hope to attend one of the following: MIT Launch (preferably), Social Entrepreneurship at Stanford/Yale, Harvard Secondary School (for something in business most likely), or Columbia Summer School (also for something in business). If I do not get into any of those programs, or if I do but wish to not attend, I will likely have an internship at Biltmore (with something to do with the business side of things).

ECs - I lettered in soccer (as a right back) in my freshman year and, bar any injuries or setbacks, will be a four-year letter winner in soccer (and a three year starter, did not start freshman year; although, I played more than the starter at my position). We made it to the first round of the state playoffs my freshman year. Also will potentially be a letter winner in basketball, football (kicker or punter), and, if I stick with learning how to play, golf. I play on a very competitive travel soccer team, we compete in the highest division in North Carolina (finished at #8 in the state, disappointing year). I play rec basketball during the winter. I ref competitive soccer, if they consider that a job. I was the freshman class treasurer this past year. Also was a member of our Key Club. My step-father and I are in the talks of creating a for-profit business targeting helping teens with Autism. I am looking to be a member of Mu Alpha Theta (really should have joined as a freshman) and the Debate Team. I have participated in our local Walk Now for Autism Speaks for the past five years. I also help out in our special needs class at my school. I am not sure how much college admission officers look into middle school achievements (being a rising sophomore that is about all I have) but they are: 6th grade - Quiz Bowl Team, Student Council, Community Club, and Math 24 (placed top 16th in county, if it weren’t for being greedy I would have placed top 4). 7th Grade - Quiz Bowl, Student Council, Community Club, Math 24 (placed), band, and winner of school National Geography Bee. 8th Grade - Varsity Quiz Bowl (went to Nationals), Community Club, Math 24, All-County Band. In addition to being on the school soccer team in 7th grade (“B-team”) and in 8th Grade (“A-team”, leading scorer, #2 seed in county tournament, semi-finalist in county tournament) and on a travel soccer team all three years. My ECs will grow as I complete high school and as I become more well-rounded.

I have been interested in Columbia for a very long time, my stepfather graduated from their Graduate Business school. We visited the campus earlier this month, along with UPenn and Princeton, and I absolutely fell in love with Columbia.

I don’t believe they will look into middle school achievements at all. Your extracurriculars look pretty excellent but it kind of looks “forced” that you’re “in the talks of creating a for-profit business targeting helping teens with Autism” just to list something on your extracurriculars. Anyways, good luck and make sure you maintain stellar grades : )
