Chance me please!

Hello, first of all I want to thank you for opening this thread. I am a rising senior and am wondering what CC thinks about my chances of getting into UF. I am very weak on ECs I think. I also only have my junior year GPAs because I haven’t been able to get my transcripts yet.

W GPA: 4.67

I will be obtaining my A.A. before entering make it harder for me to get in as a freshman? I know I am able to apply as a transfer student if I’m not accepted as a freshman, but I’d really like to get in as a freshman so I know I belong.

Thank you to all who took the time to read this post and (hopefully) give me insight as to where you think I stand as a prospective UF student. Any suggestions as to what I can do to improve my resume in my senior year will, of course, be welcome. I really appreciate everything.

I haven’t heard that it’s harder to be accepted as a Freshman with an AA. I guess it could be if you’re applying to a very competitive major. However, that’s not the case with Econ (which is now in CLAS, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences). If anything it may help a bit, since they are trying to build the program back up (hence the move from the School of Business, over to CLAS).

Improve your Math score on the SAT, and your SAT score should be fine ( a match). However, you need to calculate your GPA/WGPA for 9th thru 11th grade. For your weighted GPA, it’s + 1.0 for DE/AP/IB/AICE classes and +0.5 for honor classes. If your wGPA is a 4.1 or higher, UF is a match to high match.

Your EC’s are “ok” at best. UF will love any EC’s you’ve spent several years on, such as orchestra and work (at Publix). Keep up on both your senior year. Make sure you emphasize any leadership related activities, and that you don’t miss any other EC’s. Also make sure you list out the hours per week, in each activity. UF will understand that working part time, playing in the orchestra and school, doesn’t leave a lot of time for other ECs…

Good Luck!
