Chance me, please?

Firstly, don’t worry, I do have a nice bundle of safeties and safety/matches on my college list.

I’m a white female living in Texas, and am attending a Texan public school. For my first two years of high school, I was at a respected international school in South Asia.

Stats:
GPA (Unweighted): 4.0
GPA (With weight):4.9

I’ll be graduating with the AP Capstone Diploma, provided nothing goes terribly wrong.

Major: I’m hoping to major in International Relations, or Middle Eastern Studies.

Other Academics:
CTY Course on Politics in the Middle East, at Princeton.
CTY Course on International Relations
Stanford Course on Biomed (Kind of irrelevant, the course put me off the idea of medical science).

Extra-Curriculars
Volunteer for the Red Cross - Hold actual position, as a communications coordinator: 2 years
Volunteer w/ Local Government -2 years
NHS - 3 years, Vice President
National Spanish Honor Society - 2 years
National English Honor Society - 2 years
Exchange Student Mentor w/ EF Academy - 2 years (will write me a rec.)
NSLI-Y in Oman, learning Arabic (Study abroad over the summer).
STUCO - 4 years.
Spanish Tutoring - 2 years.
X-Country - 4 years, 5:40 mile, 17:00 5k, 40:00 10k.

In total I have roughly 300 service hours, I would have more, but I can’t count any from my previous school because I didn’t get signatures.

It’s also worth mentioning that I may be getting a book published on a small scale (in negotiations).

For my college essay I would be writing about my experience abroad - I’ve lived in 8 countries, 12 cities, and so my essay would be about growing up as a global citizen.

Chance me for Princeton, UC Berkley, Johns Hopkins University, UChicago, Northwestern, NYU, and University of Virginia, please!

I’d say that you have a very good chance at Northwestern! I know someone with similar stats and slightly lower ACT and got in with a good scholarship, same with JHU! UChicago is hard to say—their admission officers are looking for a real unique set of students and I know many people with perfect grades/scores/ECs who haven’t gotten in. You seem like an extremely smart kid though, good luck! Chance me back on my most recent post please

I love your honesty about service hours - application padders frustrate me greatly. Hurrah for you

NW - match
Princeton, UChicago, UVA - high reach
NYU, Berkeley - low reach
Hopkins - I think so! Your majors may not have as strong programs there, though. If you like the university’s atmosphere, you should go for it!
*abt OOS - it’s WAY harder to get in. Like, WAYY harder. That extra y means a lot!

Remember, take my opinions with a grain (or two, or 32) of salt! I’m not a professional, and admissions seem totally arbitrary at times.

May I suggest Georgetown? They have excellent intl programs, and as it is in DC, you’d have a lot more options for internships and the like. I, for example, want to major there in International Health - so many global hqs!

Best of luck!!
