with syracuse it’s easy. if you’re an underachiever and you don’t apply for financial aid, you’re in. syracuse list price was 65k, however, they don’t guarantee you any dorm rate and they calculate a suboptimal food plan in their listing/ if you want the full meal plan an get stuck in an expensive dorm, it’s more like 68k, with annual increases of 3 to 4 k. their thinking is, if you’re silly enough to pay that much for a very mediocre education, and you demonstrate at least a modicum of intelligenne and initiative, they would be nuts to not accept you. they save their valuable aid money for high achievers, athletes, and “special” admits
