Chance me, please? :)

Hello everyone,

This is going to be a relatively quick thread. So here it goes:

Junior at a Public High School
School Location: Southern California
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: Asian
Gender: Male
Income Bracket: 40~60k
Hooks: none, at lease I don’t think so.

Unweighted GPA: 4.00
Weighted GPA: 4.59
Class Rank: 1/567
SAT: haven’t taken one yet, will take in March
ACT: C31 E33 M32 R26 S33 Essay: 29 (Superscore: 32)
PSAT: 1400/1520

Interact Club
Debate Club
4 Year Varsity Tennis with several letters
Soon-to-be Eagle Scout
Senior Patrol Leader for 2 years

I think this is it… :frowning: When I submit the application for Brown, I’ll be selecting bioengineering as my major.
I know that anyone’s chances of making to the “big league” is slim, I just would like an honest feedback on how my profile looks as of right now. And also I would greatly appreciate if you guys could tell me which I would need to improve on. I myself already know that I am lacking in extracurriculars; I’m just not really sure what I could do.

Thank you very much!!

  1. Get that ACT score up -- especially the reading section. 33 or 34 composite is a good place to be.
  2. Seeing as you did well on the PSAT, you might also want to consider the SAT + 2 subject tests route.
  3. GPA is awesome; being valedictorian of your class always looks nice.
  4. Most pertinent observation is this: I'm not sure what things fascinate you. As such, I'd attempt to tailor your ECs to a certain area of interest. This will help paint a clearer picture of who you are.

Emphasize your involvement in one or two of your ECs; also, a 34/2250 would be great, along with 750+ on two Subject Tests.
