Chance me please!!

Hi everyone.
I wanted to know my chances to Urbana Champaign, Rice, John Hopkins, Purdue, Case Western, Michigan, and Berkeley.

Background:
I am an American citizen ( a junior at high school) who studied abroad both freshman and sophomore year at an American curriculum school in Saudi Arabia. Unfortunately, though, my school did not offer any AP or honors classes and so my transcript seems weak, but I excelled in those classes, nevertheless. I am originally Sudanese (a country in Africa, just in case you were wondering), but I was raised here in the US. I lived in Milwaukee, WI and I currently reside in Iowa. I am planning on studying chemical engineering.

Academics:
An A+ in almost everything. In fact, I probably just have a total of 3 classes throughout the past three years where I got a solid A(including this year). This year I took two honors classes and one AP. I was not encouraged to take more. My counselor did not want to overwork me during my first year.

Tests:
ACT: Comp:31 Eng:30 Math:36 Read: 27 Sci:31
SAT: I might take it
SAT 2: nothing but I could take math and chemistry.
AP: still didn’t take that AP physics C test yet.

Extracurriculars:

  • I volunteered at the local mosque in Saudi Arabia
-I was the Quran memorization teacher’s assistant. I memorized about 100 pages myself.
  • I had an original YouTube animation series.
  • I was school and class president simultaneously during my sophomore year.
  • my school’s top speaker during sophomore year
  • best soccer team in the grade
  • volunteered at local library

Comments:

  • I am from a minority group, so I guess that could be a hook.
  • I am financially incapable of paying for college, so any college with financial aid or grants is great with me.
  • My school is extremely athletic. It’s the best in the state, so I couldn’t make any team with my flat foot and injury-prone knee.
  • I usually swim and play soccer with my friends at the rec center, but I don’t suppose that counts right?
  • I know my ECs are really bad
  • I could boost my ACT score to a 32 or 33 if I really tried.

Thanks in advance and please don’t hesitate in giving out any feedback because if it doesn’t really help, at least it bumps this thread up a bit

Bump

Hey! I live in Saudi too.
Which school do you go to?

Anyway, Rice, JHU, and Berkeley will be reaches for you. They are very competitive even for the very top students. Since you have a US passport, it will be much easier for you to get aid than international students.
I believe Michigan is a match for you, but they are known for not giving out much aid.
For UIUC, it depends on which major you are applying for. If you are applying for an engineering/CS major, then it is more competitive than top schools like Berkeley and JHU.
Don’t fret about Purdue or Case-western.

Your extracurriculars are a tad bit on the down side. They don’t really prospect with your interest with being a chemical engineer.

Try to build up some more extracurriculars before you apply later this year. It would also help if you improved your ACT score by ~3 points

I lived in Jeddah. Where do you live? Thanks man.

Any ideas guys? Please reply
