I’d say it’s a high match for you. Your GPA is very good, your ECs aren’t bad but your SAT scores are middling (in terms of the school’s average). I’d definitely try to bring the SAT score up if possible.
How good is your high school, if you don’t mind me asking?
@LBad96 I think my high school is not very good academically(same with our school district). On niche.com, our average SAT score is 1570/2400 (ACT 25) It is a public school with ~1500 students
I dont like living in California. It’s getting worse here everyday. I am done with the “hype” here because California is so overrated. I want to move to the East Coast(and live in NC or VA or Mid Atl area) because I want to experience a more traditional American setting. I dont want to attend a Cal State school because their reputation, quality of education, and its difficulty to graduate in 4 years. I dont like any of the Univ. of Cali schools because I hate how popular the quarter system is here on the west coast. I prefer to have 2 sets of finals a year instead of 3 sets of finals.
UNCW had its qualities that stood out to me. I want be on the east coast, study business, have the semesters instead of quarters, and I want to attend a university with prestige. I just know UNC Chapel Hill wont be the right fit for me anyways, so I look to UNCW.
Ahhhhhh. You remind me of myself when I was your age - I am OOS myself (New Jersey) and wanted absolutely nothing to do with the idea of staying in-state for college. NJ higher education is very weak all-around, and I felt that I was above staying in-state (I wasn’t getting into Princeton lol). I also didn’t like living in New Jersey because of the brutal winters, awful allergy seasons, and rude snobs (yes, the stereotype is true, especially within my high school). There were points where I couldn’t tell whether I was happier that I was coming to UNCW or that I was leaving New Jersey behind for good. But I also wanted to remain on the East Coast and applied exclusively on this side of the country. I agree with you on the semester system being better than the quarter system; the latter makes you feel like you’re in high school all over again.
I’m also a business major, heading into my second year now. Luckily for both of us, Cameron is an excellent business school, one of the most underrated in the entire nation. And the university itself is terrific but highly underrated as well.
Happy that you’re interested in UNCW!! I have an “Ask A Current UNCW Student” thread in this forum where you can ask me and another UNCW student some questions. I’m also available via PM.
@LBad96 Wow, this made me feel relieved. It’s great to know that there’s someone else out there who has similar reasons to make a big move to attend UNCW. Thank you!
