Chance me please :)

I am applying early decision.
Asian Male from NY, about 85k income bracket.
My GPA isn’t up to par (3.7ish unwieghted, I messed around a lot sophomore year) , but I had a pretty rigorous schedule all four years, graduating with 11 AP classes (World History, Euro History, Psych, Lang, US History, Physics 1, Calc AB, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, CompGov, Biology) a SUPA writing class, and a bunch of honors classes.
My school doesn’t rank.
Got a 34 on the ACT (35 E, 34 R, 33S, 32M),and took one last Saturday, hopefully I go up to a 35 at least
Took Math2 SAT2 in October, think I got 750+
I have a lot of extracurriculars (but only 1 leadership position and a bunch of community service (including at a hospital)
I also played football for 3 years and did crew for a year( had to stop because the cost was about $1000 a year, not school sponsored)
I think my LoR will be pretty good, as I asked teachers whose classes I excelled in and talked a lot. On that note, I also think my commonapp essay and supplement essay are very good as well.

looking at my application holistically, I believe that my weak points are my glaringly low GPA, no research, lack of SAT2, and lack of leadership positions. I also come from a competitive high school, and some of the other ED applicants have much better GPA’s and more EC’s.
I think my strengths are my ACT score, LoR, Essays, and not sure if this really matters, but my cousin is currently a freshman (came from same high school) , which I highlighted in my essay.

Your GPA of “3.7ish” isn’t too bad, but a 3.78 or 3.79 is definitely better than a 3.71. The average GPA of the class of 2020 is 3.93. That means that your GPA doesn’t kill you but doesn’t really help you, either. 34 on the ACT is about on par and a 35 would really help your chances.
As far as ECs go, you’re looking about average, but the main thing is if you’ve received any awards for anything at the state or national level. Without it, you’ll look pretty boring.

I would say your chances are average to pretty good, depending on factors like essays.

That’s my source.

Hey! @smoothbunz I am applying as well, and according to PrepScholar, the average ACT is about a 32, which makes you a very strong competitor in terms of standardized testing. In terms of SAT II scores, I think that it shouldn’t matter too much. They say that not having them will not negatively affect your application (I went on an overnight visit this past month) and that you shouldn’t worry too much about that. Your only problem (which you seem to acknowledge already) is your GPA. However, I do not think it is a terrible GPA to have. Your clubs and volunteer hours are impressive, but this is coming from someone who is applying alongside of you. Best of luck to you! Hopefully we can both get in xD
