Essays:
My why NYU essay was incredible - I’m a good writer and I think it’s the best thing I’ve written in a long time
Personal statement is really good too - I discussed overcoming being really sick my freshmen year and how I’ve learned to cope with my illness and the progress I’ve made. I also discussed what I learned from it and how I’ve grown and how it’s taught me perserverance and stuff. Also info like my transcript is not an accurate reflection of my ability. (It’s not sounding good here but I’m very confident in it)
I’ve had my guidance counselor and peers read over and giveb uggestions for all my essays so far and they all love them

Recs:
Guidance rec should be amazing because we’re really close
Teacher rec 1 should be good he’s known for writing great recs
Teacher rec 2 should be good but honestly have no idea on it

Extenuating circumstances:
Being sick and how that’s affected my high school grades, my junior year is the only year that really represents me

Additional info:
I should’ve been in NHS 11th grade but something happened because of my freshmen year that made me not allowed to apply. I’m almost guaranteed a spot this year though.

Courseload:
College prep courses fresh and soon YEAR
Junior year: AP Gov, AP LANG, APES, honors pre calc, honors c++ and Java, french 3
Senior year: AP Lit, AP Psych, AP Stats, honors physics, and french 4

I’m looking for what you think are safeties, matches, and reaches just to see if I’m on the right track. Also, if you guys could give insight on whether or not my freshmen grades and illness will affect my chances or if it’ll be okay because I explain it in my essay.
NYU is my top choice school (I’m applying to cas) and any insight on if I’m a good candidate would be appreciated.

And I think that’s pretty much it! Let me know if you need any more information and thank you!

Oh also! Female, white and Native American, first generation

NYU (ED I) Match
Northeastern (EA) Low reach
Drexel (EA) Low match
Hofstra University (EA) Safety
BU and my chances for their honors college (RD) Match, Honors college out of reach
Syracuse (RD) Low match
Northwestern (RD) Out of reach
Dartmouth (RD) Out of reach
GWU (RD) Match

@TomSrOfBoston Hi there! Thank you for your reply! I am aware that northwestern and Dartmouth are reaches (as they are for anyone), but I don’t believe anything is out of reach. Same goes for BU’s Honors College. However I appreciate your opinion, and hopefully I get into NYU and won’t even need to apply to the rest of my non EA schools.
