If you can only chance me for some schools above - any help or response would be appreciated! Thank you!
Hi! I would say that you have a good chance of getting into Emory as well. You mentioned that you’re worried about your lack of APs, but if your school did not offer them that shouldn’t penalize you. Further, you have leadership and pretty good ECs. If you don’t mind me asking, are you planning to pursue a career in government and politics? I am interested in law and politics and found your internships impressive.
@tolkien2828 I eventually want to pursue a career in law and become an attorney, ultimately working with public education centers in more underfunded urban areas. Let’s keep in touch throughout this process!
Interesting mix of schools. Your SAT is on the low side for many. Number of APs is fine, given that your school doesnt have many. No penalty for that. I think you have a decent chance at all except USC, Wash U, Tufts, and Emory. However, given that you applied ED and are from Hawaii, which may help, perhaps it’s a little more possible. Remember though, ED really only helps if you are already very qualified, and your SAT score is going to hurt you, sorry to say. I think you will definitely get into UCONN. The LACs might be interested in you because you are male, Asian, and from Hawaii, so cautiously optimistic. Good luck.
Emory University (ED) - A pretty solid shot, maybe around 40-50% chance.
USC - A little lower chance, 30%
Brandeis University - Around 40%
WASHU - One of your lowest chances, maybe 15% chance, if that.
Tufts - Around 30% chance
Occidental - Maybe 40-50% chance
UCONN - Probably accepted, 70% chance+
Colby - Maybe 40% chance?
Grinnell - 60% chance
You’re a pretty solid applicant, and being from hawaii may help, although being asian will not. A fair number of these places are high matches/reaches, but I’d guess you get into UCONN pretty handily, and then maybe 2 or 3 of the others. Good luck.
