Chance me please - Hey guys so I have a 3.833 GPA with a 1430 SAT (680R,750M) and 32 ACT (34E, 33M, 31R, 28S) I have completed 12 AP classes by graduation. My extracurriculars and essays were solid and geniune. I am at a disadvantage due to my class rank being low because of my uber competitive high school (300ish/700) Please let me know the probability of me getting admission!! I need something to calm my nerves. THANKS
3.833 weighted or unweighted?
There are a lot of things you’ve left out In order to get a more accurate measurement state more info please.
Race
Gender
State
Country
Weighted unweighted GPA
Hooks…
I assume you are out of state if the 3.833 is unweighted then i’d say you have a 60% 30% if not (still pretty good) depends on how good your essays and EC’s really are. If you are a female or a minority i’d add 25% to your chance of getting in GT seems to go out of its way to get in minority students, I’ve seen students with 3.6 UW GPA’s and 28ish ACT’s and are oos but they were URMs so they got in.
I haven’t seen a single African american with a 3.6+ GPA and 30+ on the ACT get denied where I’ve seen Asian applicants with perfect GPA’s and 34+ ACT’s get denied. So a lot of this (whether we’ll admit this or not) depends on Affirmative action. With that being said, good luck on your admission, hopefully you’ll get your desired result!
Ok so here goes

I want to do psychology so that was my intended major when I applied (I heard they compare by major and psych isn’t too competitive
with all of those stats in mind you would have a good chance, i’d guess (bare in mind I’m no expert) anywhere between 45% to 75% GT is big on GPA being high so I’m not sure. Good luck!
UGA specifically states on their website that they don’t care about your high school GPA but rather your UGA GPA. Math, Science, Social Studies, English, and Foreign Language classes are only counted in this GPA with an A(4) B(3) C(2) and D(1) etc… and then 1 additional point for each AP classes that you have already completed. What is your UGA GPA?
@Jimbobjim Oh ok
@gougadawgs that is UGA gpa lol
If your UGA GPA is a 3.83 and you have those high of test scores I think you’re safe!
@gougadawgs44 oh ok, and one more thing. My math 2 subject score is 600. Will this jeopardize my application for any of my schools? Will my strong SAT math count more?
SAT subject test submissions are optional for GT, so if you chose to submit it, it might hurt you but overall shouldn’t effect their final decision (at least I would hope)! Be weary though if you don’t get accepted don’t take it so harshly, their are tons of instate kids who have stats just like yours who get denied. If I had to be money I would say you’d get in, but you never know. With that being said I wish good luck and may the future hold what is best for you.
@Jimbobjim oh ok thank you. One of my friends who has an equivalen my Gpa and lower test scores got in when he signed up for a less popular major (agriculture) since psychology is also less popular at GT will this increase my chances?
According to what I’ve researched no, not quite, that would only increase your chances if your EC’s or and essays were related to psychology. If choosing your major increased your chances then everyone would choose business or music theory and switch to engineering. Then again I’m not an admissions officer, but from what I’ve read I believe I am right.
