Hi everyone!
I’m a junior with a 4.53 WGPA and a 3.98 UWGPA at a relatively competitive high school in Florida.
This year I’m enrolled in:
AP Calculus AB
AP Spanish Language and Culture
AP Chem (double block)
AP English Language and Composition
AP Seminar
AP US History
Next year I plan on taking:
AP Calculus BC
AP Spanish Literature and Culture
AP Bio
AP English Literature
AP Research
AP Government
AP Macroeconomics (online, FLVS)
Teacher’s Assistant
I am a member of NHS, Science NHS, Mu Alpha Theta, Interact Club, Chem Club, and Prom Committee. I am also the vice president of the Spanish National Honor Society. I plan on running for officer positions in all of the clubs I’m in right now with the exception of Chem Club.
I have volunteered over 100 hours at a local Veteran’s hospital (and plan on adding 100 more this summer). I have also volunteered roughly 40 hours and counting at a soup kitchen and 25 hours at my old middle school. I also volunteer through all of my honor societies.
I got a 1380 on my SAT (not my best, will retake). I have not taken the ACT yet. I also plan on taking the Subject Tests in Chem and Math, which I plan on doing well on.
Can you please chance me for the University of Florida, FSU, Emory, John’s Hopkins, Stanford, and Yale?
Thank you!
You are obviously in a very rigorous program in your high school and that is very impressive, but what I would be concerned with are your scores on your AP exams. For instance I have taken 4 AP exams so far as a senior, but have received 5s on all of them which I think shows colleges your standings better than the actual grade in the class. I strongly recommend taking the ACTs because with the sat score you currently have I think University of Florida and FSU you would get into, but probably be rejected at all of the rest. I think in order to be considered for Emory JH Stanford and Yale it is extremely important to get your SAT to around a 1500 or an ACT around a 33. Not that it is not doable (like I started at a 26 ACT and got to a 32), but I think that and your scores on AP exams are what you should be focusing on at this point. Also your EC are not bad at all, but I would keep in mind that compared to some students at these competitive schools they will not be the best so do not rely on them to get you in. I think that the number of AP classes you are able to take, your high GPA, and hopefully strong standardized tests will be what set you apart! Good Luck!!! I wish you the best in this stressful process
@desperateplea I got a 5 on my APES exam last year and a 4 on APUSH and Human Geography. I hope to get a 5 this year on calc and chem especially, but I think I’ll get a 5 on capstone and at least a four on everything else.
what do you plan on majoring in?
@desperateplea I was thinking Biology or possibly a double major in Business. I want to go down the pre-med track but I’m not sure if I actually want to do premed.
