Chance me please

Hi, i’m a junior at a TECHNICAL high school for Information systems technology looking for a college for a major in computer security and or computer science. currently I REALLY want to go to RIT, but not sure on my chances, and wondering if someone can help me out

I got an 1100 on SAT (taking them again)

GPA is 3.1

Dont know my class rank yet but if its crucial i will find out

For ECs, I did yearbook for 1 year, Coached youth baseball, and wrestling for 3 years, Along with teaching kids how to sail for 5 years.

I have my Microsoft Word, Power point, Access, and Excel Certifications. Along with my Networking and Windows OS Fundamentals MTA certification ( Microsoft Technical Associate )

My essay skills are on point although i would have to have someone grammar check it.

Like i said i REALLY want to go to RIT and as much as i want to go i also realize that i may not get in so if anyone has any other schools they would recommend for my majors, feel free. and also dont soften your responses i want the truth!

I think you are in a good spot for RIT, maybe just slightly lower with your test scores, and GPA. But your certifications are a huge bonus, probably your best trait. I would try to do some more EC’s, and really make those essays wow people. Other great schools that would do well with your major and test scores is Wentworth, a relatively unheard of but really great tech school in Boston. Boston had a lot of opportunities and the school is really strong. I think you would be a great fit there. Try looking at state schools they always have pretty good programs.

Average UW GPA was 3.62 last year so your GPA would be on the lower side. Work on getting your GPA and test scores up. It is a reach school for you but you will never hit a home run if you don’t swing. Good luck!
