I’m a rising senior

GPA: 3.83, UC GPA & weighted GPA: 4.0
SAT: 1510 superscore (720 EBRW, 790 M)
ACT: 33 (will retake in september - hopefully i’ll get a 34)
SAT Subject: Math 1(780 LOL took it for fun sophomore yr. ik it’s unnecessary heh), Math 2 (800), Korean (800), Japanese (710), Bio (590-- unluckily I had the worst migraines + cramps combo ever on test day ugh)

EC’s

  • Korean School TA (10,11,12)
  • Student reporter for a newspaper (10,11,12)
  • international Student club - meant to help new international students (11, 12-president)
  • Played piano in church since elementary school
  • political internship (summer after 10th)
  • Link crew - helping freshmen adjust in school (12)
  • Translated letters for this non profit organization (10,11,12)
  • Summer Missions - taught English and basic coding (10,11)
  • was Class president 9th grade… back when i lived in asia. moved to US 10th grade

Awards

  • Foreign Language Speech Contest (2nd place, 10th)
  • The Korean National Unification Advisory Council’s History contest (1st place, 10th)
  • AP Scholar (lol, i took 3 AP tests junior yr. not that amazing)
  • other miscellaneous school awards from 9th grade

+++ I went to a non-english based private school in Asia until 9th grade and came to the US in my sophomore year.

I’m thinking of majoring in East asian studies or Global studies…or maybe cog sci. chance me please?

UCB is definitely within your reach but with a less than 20% acceptance rate, there is no guarantees.

Make sure you apply widely and have 1-2 safety schools on your list that you would be happy to attend.
