Hi everyone! I’ve applied to all of my schools and am now working on scholarships and waiting to hear back on decisions. I’d love for you guys to chance me on some of the schools I’m still waiting on, especially since the ones I’m waiting on are my more selective schools. Thanks so much!

Schools I already have decisions from:

  • University of Mississippi (accepted)
  • Louisiana State University (accepted, invited to apply for selective scholarships)
  • University of Alabama at Birmingham (accepted)
  • Rollins College (accepted, invited to selective Scholars Weekend)

Schools still waiting on:

  • Washington University in St. Louis
  • Rhodes College
  • Emory University
  • Vanderbilt University
  • Harvard University (known reach, I don’t really want to go this far from home anyways)
  • American University (known reach, I don’t really want to go this far from home anyways)

School Info:

  • Public school in Mississippi
  • Predicted to be ranked 3 out of 427
  • Current GPA (weighted): 5.2328
  • Current GPA (unweighted): 4.00
  • Student in International Baccalaureate Diploma Program
  • Have taken IB Spanish and IB Math SL
  • Taking IB English HL, IB History HL, IB Biology HL, and IB Economics SL
  • Have taken AP Human Geography and AP European History classes, and the AP Language exam
  • Currently taking AP Calculus AB, planning on taking AP Biology, AP Calculus AB, AP Macroeconomics, AP Microeconomics, and AP English Literature exams

Wow. With your GPA and test scores I wouldn’t really consider any of them to be unlikely, especially American. I think you have a good chance at all and a decent chance at Harvard. It’s very unpredictable because you’re clearly qualified for all but many who apply to those schools are also very qualified. Good luck! i wouldn’t be surprised if you got admitted to all of these schools besides harvard (to which, although i think you have a great chance, is too selective to give a real answer anyway). you’ll receive significant merit aid from rhodes. since you’re a boy, it will help you tremendously at american and notably at emory because of the 37:63 and 41:59 male:female respective ratios of the schools.

Thanks so much for responding! I should have mentioned, I am a girl but I participate in Venture Crew because it is co-ed though it is part of the Boy Scouts. Sorry for the confusion

University of Alabama at Birmingham - Accepted - Accepted into University Honors Program and Global and Community Leaders Program
Rollins College - Accepted - Selected to attend major scholarship weekend but was not awarded full-ride, Accepted into Honors Program
Washington University in St. Louis - Waitlisted
Rhodes College - Accepted - Moved onto next round of scholarships but just received Cambridge Scholarship
Emory University (Main Campus) - Accepted
Vanderbilt University - Waitlisted
Harvard University - Accepted
(Did not end up applying to American University)

I am very happy to be attending Harvard University next year with a much larger financial aid package than I ever expected. Before finding out about this acceptance, I had to endure a lot of waitlisting and rejections, so I hope this shows more than anything that everything happens for a reason! It may not seem like it, but you will end up in the best place for you :slight_smile:

Also! Do any interviews you can for your colleges! I don’t think my common app essay was particularly strong and I didn’t do the optional essay for Harvard, but I had an alumni interview which was very personal and I definitely believe it increased my chances :slight_smile:
