Background: From Houston, Texas
Applying Early action or regular decision. I am planning on applying to Villanova ED but now that I’ve looked into Lehigh more I’ve considered applying ED to Lehigh instead.
I am a 17 year old white male, and I have also been confirmed in the Catholic Church
GPA: 6.2143 on a 6.0 weighted scale
RANK: 142/632 (choose not to include on transcript in hopes of i might get re ranked higher because my high school is very competitive)
SAT: 1360- 680 reading 680 math (hoping to raise score in August)
AP Classes: APUSH, AP environmental science, AP government, AP economics (got a 3 on ap world history test and ap us history test)
Worked at a pool last summer, interned at an oil company this summer, volunteering at a fun run and volunteered in cleaning up houses after hurricane Harvey, created a CPR class for my friends and I, co-created a fundraiser to feed elementary school students that are on reduced lunch plans, involved in Young Life and I am a mentor to freshmen. 4 years of track and field. In national honors society.
Id say medium to low chance. Definitely worth a shot.
Make sure you have safety schools in mind just in case.
Good luck.
Would it be more beneficial to do regular decision over early action? I’ve heard that they’re more lenient on regular decision.
Lehigh offers ED1 and ED2.
More 50% of the admits, comes from ED1, which means ED2 and RD will be brutal. They do not offer EA.
So depends on your strategy, where your other schools rank and how competitive they are.
If Lehigh is your dream then go for it, but have back ups just in case.
That’s probably a plus at Villanova, but will not matter at Lehigh.
My impression is that Lehigh is considerably harder for RD applicants. For Fall 2017, most enrolled students (52%) were accepted ED (with no distinction between ED1 and ED2).

The CDS shows a 60% acceptance rate for ED (again, no distinction between ED1 and ED2). By subtracting the ED numbers from the totals, it can be inferred that the RD rate was only 22%.

I don’t think Lehigh releases numbers for ED1 vs ED2, so I don’t know you would document ED1 vs ED2 differences. My guess would be that the ED2 acceptance rate is lower than the ED1 rate, but still significantly higher than the RD rate.
For Fall 2018, I’ve heard that the RD rate was only 19%, but that’s not official.
Ok thank thank you for the information. As of now, Villanova is my #1 choice and I’m applying ED there.
