chance me please

Hello! I’m a current junior who is planning on graduating with an IB diploma. I started the year with hopes of getting accepted to a top college like Stanford, UChicago, or WashU, but this year has exhausted me and I just want to get into UT at this point. If possible I would like opinions on my chances of getting into UT Liberal Arts (anthropology/archaeology) with my current stats and intended major, and any school recommendations based upon my stats would be welcome too!

GPA: 4.3

Class Rank: This is my first year at my school and they have yet to give me my rank. Based upon asking others with a similar GPA to my own, it can be assumed that I’m in the top 10%

Junior Schedule:
IB HL Biology
IB HL English
IB HL History/APUSH
AP Economics
Art 1
German 1
Precalculus
IB Theory of Knowledge
Early Release

Senior Schedule:
IB HL Biology
IB HL English
IB HL History (20th century topics)
IB Math Studies
IB SL Art
IB German Ab Initio
Business Information Management (A technology credit that’s required. I really don’t want to take it but I have no other choice)

SAT: 1310 (English: 760, Math: 550)
I plan on taking the SAT at least two more times before next fall.
ACT: Taking it in April

Previous AP Scores: AP Human Geography (4), English Language and Composition (4)

Extracurriculars: Weekly volunteering at the SPCA, Student Council, Gay-Straight Alliance, NHS, NAHS, and trumpet in my school’s top jazz band during freshman and sophomore year.
I also write poetry, attempt to write songs, play multiple instruments, and paint in my free time. I don’t think these count as extracurriculars but I do think that they have a large impact upon my character.

Awards/Accomplishments:

  • published poet
  • Scholastic Art and Writing; got a silver key in poetry
  • Two artworks with a rating of four (top rating) in Visual Arts Scholastic Competition. One piece advanced to the state level and will receive further judging.

For now, I would just focus on increasing those test scores (SAT and ACT). With stellar essays and recs, you’ve got as good a chance as anyone for all the schools you mentioned.
