Chance me, please.

Okay, here goes.
I want to go the University of Pittsburgh-Oakland (main campus) for Nursing.
The problem is that I suck at the SATs.
Do I have any chance at all of getting in?
Here are my stats:
3.8 UW GPA at private school with tough curriculum in Pittsburgh area
1590/2400 SAT I
Ten various extracurricular activities (with a few leadership positions)
Eight volunteer activities (hundreds of hours) all in a medical setting
Excellent essay
Excellent rec's.
They have rolling admission so I will be applying in August (much earlier than most people) and then I will take the SATs once more in October.
Please chance me with my current Stats though.
Thanks.

anyone????

i think extra curriculars should be about quality not quantity

Mine are good quality, I'm very involved in all of them which takes up all of my spare time.

Remember that Pitt is GPA/SAT based. In fact, things such as recomendations, extra carriculars, and essays are all optional. Your GPA is more than good enough. I'm not sure if that 1590 is out of 2400 or if it is out of 1600. If it is out of 2400 then retake, becuase you will be on the low side of applicant to Pitt. However, if it a 1590 out of 1600 then Pitt should be a safety for you. If Pitt is your dream school, try the Honors College, you are more than qualified.

It is out of 2400, that is why I said I suck at the SATs.
I'm not sure what their average SAT is because according to a recent scandal here they fail to report many student's scores.
I've never known anyone to be rejected from Pitt who lives in the Pittsburgh area. So hopefully, I won't be. I had planned on sending my app. in August, and then re-taking the SAT in october. The admissions is rolling, so I think that if they do not feel my stats are good enough they'll ask for new scores. Do you think that is a good idea?

What is your SAT out of 1600?

It is 1060.

According to College Board, the SAT 25-75 percentile is 560-660 V and 570-670 M. I think you need to retake the SAT in October, because right now you are below even the 25th percentile. Pitt is rolling admission and I doubt that many people will be sending in applications in October, so even if you wait until late October-early November, you should easily get in.

With rolling, don't you have a better chance the earlier you apply?

Yes, but applying in late October, early November would still be pretty early in the process.

Just thought I'd let you know I was accepted. :)
