i was wondering if anyone could let me know what my chances might be for RD acceptance to vanderbilt. I attend a small, private, challenging high school in philadelphia but the school does not give out a rank. I would say that I am approximately in the top 15%

SAT I - Math-720 CR- 770 W-730
SAT II- Literature-960 History-770 Math II- 660
GPA 3.9 weighted about 3.7 unweighted
I'm a National Merit Commended and am in National Honor Society and Spanish Society

EC's: Nationally ranked women's crew team since freshman year, Community Service Core Officer, Spanish Club, S.A.D.D, and a part time job in the school year.

The school says that the only offer scholarships to students about a 1500 but I was curious if I would still possibly be a candidate for one or how my chances of admission RD would be. Please let me know! Thanks!

Wow you are like the same person as me with you SAT scores and GPA!

I think you are a toss up with a good chance at admission but I wouldn't expect any scholarship money. I think your ECs are a tiny bit weak (no offense) and you could use a few more things on the resume that show leadership although the crew team thing is great. How conpetitive is your high school? What kind of schedule are you taking? Your Math2 score is a little low but I am sure they will be impressed by your statistically unachievable lit score ;)

Hope this helps! Good luck and hopefully I'll see you in the fall!

yeah i assumed a scholarship to a school like vanderbilt was pretty impossible .. and its funny we're the same in SATS and GPA

yeah, i know my EC's and leadership are a little weak, its been hard to join organizations with crew 6 or sometimes 7 days a week, im really hoping that doesnt hurt me too much. um yeah my school is extremely competitive, its really small and selective for admission and usually sends a big majority of students to the ivies and top tier schools, not pressure-filled at all! :/
but my schedule this year is AP Bio I w/lab, AP Bio II w/lab, AP Euro, AP Literature and AP Calc AB. I also have an economics course, physcology and a religion. All the AP's are making me nervous though bc my grades aren't as good as before .. mostly B+'s and A-'s .. do you think that will hurt me a lot .. or would it be good that i tried to challenge myself? .. what does your schedule look like? .. thanks for the information and good luck to you too!

B+'s and A-s are making you nervous? You are much better having challenged yourself like you did and it deifinitely helps you. With that schedule and the competitiveness of your school I think you have a great shot. I also have a 1490/2220 (730M, 760CR, 730 W) and a 3.84 W/3.67 UW. My question is, why isn't your GPA higher if you are used to getting much better than B+'s and A-'s?

My schedule isn't nearly as hard as yours but then again I go to a public (albeit crazy competitive) school and we don't offer a lot of the stuff you are taking.

AP Spanish, SUPA English, AP Euro, Honors Physics, Honors Marketing, Pre-Calc (eww, i know), and Film Studies (stupid visual arts requirement)

My english class is a duel enrollment course from Syracuse University thats taught in my high school by a teacher trained at SU. It's Syracuse's freshman writing seminar course and its actually one of the hardest classes I've ever taken...

My 1st quarter grades were disgusting since I know I could have done much better if I put a little effort in. I got 3 B-'s (I've never gotten one before) in English, Spanish, and Film Studies (I know, I know), and the rest B+/A-.

well my A-'s are in like my dumb classes like religion which gets factored out of my GPA anyway so basically i have all B+'s and one B which is rapidly approaching a B- .. so i guess B+/A- is about my average usually but I usually at least have a few A's .. this time I have none so i guess thats why im freaking out? .. i actually wound up getting a two B's in freshman and junior year that were 3.0's and brought my GPA down alot i guess.

you're schedule seems really good .. especially since it seems like you dont have a ton of opportunities at your school .. and the Syracuse thing is so cool .. that will definetly look really good for schools and don't worry too much about the grades, mostly everyone i know is in the same situation.. apparently senior year grades arent the best for everyone .. theres so much other stuff to do!
