another fairly important thing. i teach a weekly mathematics class within the school to student from Year 7 to A levels. i was chosen by a teacher for this job. it is really helpful for me aouse i plan on applying for a degree in maths ( i love maths)
3.Also, my dad is a diplomat so we get to move around a lot i mentioned that i had travelled to and lived in over 15 contries. this wasnt exactly required but i thought it was worht mentioning.

Charity and community service both as a student and as Head boy. nothing independant tough

Bank intern for a few months

I play the guitar ( not in a band or anyhting)

I enjoy sports especially basket ball and cricket ( not in a team0

now if you get through this the qustion is can i get into carleton with fairly decent aid ( about $10000 family contribtion). any comments woould be very much appreciated thanks.

please note that i am applying to carleton to do a course thingo in maths ( i dont know if that helps, but carleton is strong in math). also i have not been able to show any interest in the college as i am currently living in nepal and interviews etc are very impossible. Thanks again:D

please people im very desperate when you view you can just drop a line it would really help

Academically, I think you're a good match with Carleton. Who knows about the financial aid situation. Carleton gives basically zero merit aid, and I don't know how good they are about need-based. But best of luck! My daughter has also applied to Carleton. It's her top choice and money is a VERY important factor for us.

i think you're a highly qualified candidate. the best of luck!!!!!

I found Carleton to be on the generous side with need-based aid, but I have no idea how it works for international students.

It's hard for me to take a really educated stance, since I'm not totally clear on Carleton's standards/selectivity for international applicants. However, your grades look great and I assume that being Head Boy is a big deal. The SAT math scores are quite impressive. It seems like you're pretty competitive.

Need-based aid for international students is universally hard to come in this country, though. I'm not sure whether Carleton's promise to meet 100% of demonstrated need applies to internationals.... sorry.

carleton has full scholarship for asians .. the starr foundation program.. if u r a pakistani or a nepali , u ll qualify..

hmmmm anyone else also thanks for all your responses people.

I've heard it is really hard for international students to get financial aid so that might be a hurdle, but otherwise I think you're a good match.

Carleton has a lot of international students from all over the board, actually. If you need financial aid you will probably be put in a work study.

Good luck!

thanks for the response afree87 but what is a work study? ive heard a lot about it..

Work study is on-campus employment, such as in dining services, library, various college offices, custodial, etc. The majority of freshman work study assignments are with dining services, but not all. My daughter somehow was assigned to a position in one of the offices. Work study is usually 8-10 hours per week.

When I took my daughter up for orientation, I did notice several local businesses advertising for help, so I imagine it would be easy to get an off-campus job.
