<p>Great post. First generation college student that is not an URM. Your application will really mess up the admissions folks who had thought they'd gotten around the URM quota/preference legal barriers by seeking first generation college kids. You should get in all especially if you stress first gen college and editor in chief. Good luck!</p>

I wrote my essay on being a first generation college student and I hope that it makes an impact. I am still a little worried about Middlebury. I still am pretty sure that I will get a rejection from them.</p>
<p>GPA is fine, but those SAT scores are going to hurt. URMs/First-generation college students aren't necessarily admitted despite lower scores. Rather, there are strong candidates who are URM/FG and there are those with the same stats who are not, and the colleges go for the URM/FG students. I don't think that being first-generation is going to help unless she makes it past the first few hurdles.</p>
<p>I'm wondering why you took Math I (not a good test to take in general, as it's harder to get an 800 than Math II) and Bio, when you're applying to LACs not known for sciences...</p>
