Hey all. I'm starting the application process this fall, and am still sort of unsure as to my chances with certain places, even with SAT and ACT scores in. I'm meeting with a college application specialist next week to help me narrow down my list.

Anyway, some background. I go to school in northern Virginia, in one of the (arguably) most competitive counties in the country. Our grading scale is pretty harsh (94-100=A, 93-90=B+, 89-84=B, 83-80=C+, 79-74=C, 73-70=D+, 69-64=D, Below 63=F). My school doesn't do class rank, so I'm not sure about that.

Anyway, my extracurriculars are good, but not amazing. I have been on my school's newspaper staff for two years (three years this upcoming year), a member of the yearbook staff, and involved in a few clubs such as Model UN and Key Club over the past three years. I also attended a summer enrichment program (of sorts) at Yale University the past two summers.

I'm planning on retaking the SAT for sure, not sure about ACT yet. I still have to take SATII's, especially since I'm planning on applying to schools in Boston.

As of right now, I'm looking at several Virginia in-state schools and a few out-of-state.
