Chance Me Please?

I'm about to start my senior year of high school, and I'm just now starting to really freak out about college. Last year I discovered my interest in journalism and I will be applying to universities as a journalism major.

Activities Unaffiliated with my High School:
Volunteered Summer of 2005 at a hospital.
Employed part-time for Summer of 06, second half of Junior year and entirety of this summer.
Currently employed by the main local newspaper for low-level work...not an internship, but I'm hoping it might count for something.
Independent filmmaker, which is where my primary interest was until last year.
Sport Pilot Certificate (does that count for anything? I mean...better than nothing, I figured).

There is a possibility that I am going to be involved in the major local newspaper's student publication next year, which is a fairly selective thing I am told. Additionally, there is a possibility that I will be involved in some capacity with the local university's student newspaper, pending my eligibility.

Dream Colleges, in Order of Preference:
New York University
University of Miami
University of Florida

Any other matches would be appreciated, especially if they are located in major American cities.

Thank you very much for the help.

(Shameless Bump.)

Really? No takes for this one? I hope my chances aren't THAT bad.

I think you're in at UF and UMiami. But not sure about NYU.

i agree with boredpirate

REJECT AT NYU.
Your ec's show your passion for journalism but you have a low GPA and a low SAT Score. Your ec's won't make up for that.

Thankyou all for the input so far.

As it is right now, I am going to apply to NYU as an Early Decision applicant, if that changes anything.

Anybody else?

Boca Community? Olympic Heights? Spanish River? :P

All incorrect, loslobos71. The IT program I completed ought to give you a bit of a clue :p.

Where do/did you go?

whoops, I forgot West. I live in PA, but my whole family lives in Boca. We're probably moving to Boca in the next few years. I have a lot of friends there :)

ah, gotcha.
So...have any opinion on my chances? Anybody else? haha

Rank and unwaited are gonna kill you for NYU, but you should be fine at UF and Miami. Still think you have a decent shot at NYU though.
