looking at: wash u, u chicago, gw, gtown, possibly brown and yale and maybe more?

Your college GPA isn't impressive given the competition at those schools, though your ACTs are impeccable. ECs are lackluster unless you can send in a solid recording of your playing. Make sure your recs are stellar and you have a compelling statement.

Your stats are not that bad. If I were you and wanted to increase my chances I would stay at your current school for one more year, improve your gpa, and figure out where you would like to go and exactly why you would like to go there. That is, unless you really want to leave now in which case that changes things a bit. Some of those schools that you listed are difficult to transfer into and building a strong college resume is your best bet. Good luck!

thanks for the help. my GPAs would have been higher if i wasnt sick, which is why i'll write a letter of explanation about it. i dont want to be at my current college for another year, so i will def. send in some apps in a few months. my absolute first choice is wash u.

Trojan, you say the EC's are lackluster? I would say that is pretty impressive participation for a college student. Even one EC--college oriented, anyway--is TONS of work. I am a tutor at my University and its pretty demanding and time consuming.

Also, anyone who has NOT tutored in a university writing center should never degrade the experience. It is probably the most intellectually stimulating experience I have encountered thus far in my college career. Being a tutor is something else on a whole other level that I never expected.
