plus I have a recommendation letter from the recently retired head of the Board of Trustees

Like many of us, you are competitive. Your music ECs and geography are plusses. I don't think anyone can be definitive on your chances, but you appear to be certainly in the running. Raising your SATII scores will be key. They are rather on the low side and they have the potential to cause the adcom to call into question the quality of your high school and your academic accomplishments there. As an example, you cite numerous awards in Spanish, yet you have, by your own admission, embarrassingly low scores on the Spanish SATIIs. I also would not overestimate the letter from the former Board of Trustees member. Unless he or she really knows you in some important capacity and can shed some positive and unique light on you as a person, these kinds of letter are not all that beneficial and they are often treated by adcoms as simply perfunctory.

Are you applying ED or RD?

RD...if I do well on the ACT i recently took I may just submit those scores. I am retaking SAT II's in december. All i can chalk the bad scores up to in spanish is just a bad testing day. Hopefully if I can raise the scores the adcoms will see that too. I really do not know what happened.

Does Dartmouth take scores from the January testing date? If the December SAT II's are not up to par I may retake then as well.

Buck up on the tests!
