um can you submit sat score out of 1600 than 2400 or does ucla prefer the 2400 mark.

It has to be 2400. The last class that they accepted 1600s from was 2 years ago.

@Jinks, Reach. I actually know a couple of people with similar stats (way higher GPAs though) that got in, but it seems to happen more with L&S than engineering. It would be helpful if you listed a major.

Applying to Pre-Business. Should I apply to an easier college and transfer later?

Slight Reach.

Wow fast reply. Thanks. About how bad is slight reach? I always hear it but do you have a rough percentage?

Match is like being beyond the 50% chance of getting in, while high match floats around 50%. Slight Reach is if there is less than a 50% chance of getting in, but, in this case, higher than the official admissions rate (23.8%). Reach is if the chance of admission is below the official admissions rate.

@Peppers.

Well i am not really sure about a major yet. However wat i plan to do is get a major in buisness with a emphasis on pre-medicine. Is that an impacted major at UCLA. Does major have an effect with acceptance?

Also what can i do to improve my chance. I am a reach, that makes me glad. I am planning to take the ACT again! I got a 29 w/ no preparation and my English score ruined my composite score. I am also taking SAT again however i feel much more comfortable with ACT.

No. You just take some science GEs while taking your biz-econ pre-requisites. BizEcon is impacted; you apply later on after your pre-reqs.

silvstargrl:

UCLA: Slight Reach

thank you flopsy :slight_smile:
btw just curious, on what are you basing your evaluations? how heavily are you weighing GPA, SAT/ACT, versus ECs and whatnot? I see you have a ton of posts so I would imagine you have a lot of experience in predicting students’ chances, but I would be interested in learning more about how you do it.

I base my evaluations based on the published statistics at [UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu) and on the annually posted stats of College Confidential members who were accepted to/rejected from UCLA every March. I don’t “weigh” anything, I just try to match numbers to admits’ numbers. :rolleyes:
