if you don’t mind, flopsy, could you give me specific reasons as to why ucla is a reach?

^ Both your SAT and GPA are below the mean.

If I may answer, your cumulative GPA and SAT are respectively below the averages. I believe for UCLA, UCGPA is around 4.17 and SAT’s are 2000+. Being Hispanic doesn’t help you because of proposition so and so that prohibits race as a factor in admissions. However, the UCLA’s newly adopted holistic review might be in your favor.

Also, no AP’s before senior year is not going to look good. Hope my reasoning was just. Good luck.

[]Your SAT I score is ~200 below the UCLA mean.
[]Your 10/11th-grade average weighted GPA is ~0.20 below the UCLA mean.
[li]You don’t have any AP/IB courses until senior year.[/li][/ol]

I go to one of the top public schools in the state. Probably not considered but I’ll throw it out there anyway.

castel: match

you know i dont see why so many people do this…sorry to be so cynical, but everyone pretty much knows if they match or not (based on statistics)…even if you dont have meet the average statistics, its fine…i know plenty of people who would post here and get a “reach” response, but have been accepted. so, just show who you are in the admission essays and youll be fine.

Not sure how great my essays will be…but I hope they’ll be decent.

I have a quick question. Because of the heavy workload my senior year, my grades have been slipping to Bs. This has been a great concern for me. Will this have an affect on my acceptance? I know Senior grades matter, but how much do they matter? For instance, if I get a 3.5 my first semester Senior year will the UCs calculate this into my GPA and use it for determining admittance to a school?

I think this is all my info. Thanks for taking your time evaluating my chances. What are my chances for UCSD and UCI?

Happy Thanksgiving!! And good luck to all those that did Early Action/Decision to Privates!!
