Hi. I was wondering if some1 can chance me.
I am kinda new 2 collegeboard, and this might be short:

In-state

Rank: 2/653 (the number of seniors always changes.
weighted GPA:4.575
UC gpa: don’t know how to calculate, but got ALL A’s 9-12th grade (i had to withdraw my second semester ceramics in 10th grade, but took AP art history during senior year).

Senior classes: ALL 5 are AP classes… gotten A’s too first semester.
SAT: ok. so i am a really bad test taker. can I just be one of those people who don’t naturally do well on the SATs? I’ve taken it 3 times, studied everytime, but.. i’m just oen of those people that don’t do well, and I don’t think it’s fair if they judge me on SATs: 1840. yeah. same as SAT II’s: 600s based 2 highest. UGH!

Personal Statement: really good. everyone that read it liked it a lot.

awards: pretty much the usual–national society of scholars, ap scholar w/ h, student of month, hospital volunteer award thing i even added perfect attendance but i know it wont do anything.

E.C./community serv: heart unit hospital, counsil, feed homeless, tutor, science olymp, clubs, etc, etc.

yeah thats all i can think of.

oh and I’m considered minority i guess… and some1 last year took the sats 5 times got a 1870 and got in.. actually a lot of people got accepted last year with low gpas/okay sats.

oh and sorry. I’ve taken all ap/honors classes. passed all ap exams. I actually took 3 + 5 including senior year. so 8 total.

essays = my life changing experience.

oh, and in state.

edit: am i a slight reach or a reach reach?

lol did you put the pokemon thing in your application? I thought pokemon was over 7-8 years ago. Unique, but I don’t know if it will help

OMG worried senior I laughed so hard when I saw that pokemon thing. Please tell me you put that on your application… In all honesty I think it helps to put something like that on your application, just to humor the readers a bit.

haha. I even forgot to tell you guys I played vball for 3 years.

fwiw, I was rejected back in 2005.

California Resident

Academic:
Rank: 1/487
SAT: 2220 (700 CR 730 M 790 W)
W GPA: 4.26
UW GPA: 4.0
Taken only 6 AP classes from junior and senior year, but only around 7/8 are even offered at my school. I was going to take French 4 AP (that would be the maximum AP load), but it was the same period as Statistics so I couldn’t; instead I’m taking French 4 independent studies

Senior year schedule:
Wind Ensemble, Statistics AP, English Literature AP, Government/Economics AP, French 4, Physics, Journalism

ECs:
-Wind Ensemble (advanced band, 4 years), first chair flute for three years, section leader for three years. Played piccolo for a year. Also band Vice President
-California Scholarship Federation 100% Life Member (3 years) and currently President
-Literary Society (4 years), currently President. We also make a literary magazine that wins awards from Columbia University and this year I am editor-in-chief of it.
-National Honors Society (2 years), currently Publicity Commissioner
-Drum Line (2 years), first chair mallet percussionist for 2 years as well
-Varsity track and cross-country for my freshman year. Went to CCS in track, and I got two top 10 school records in XC.
-Interact Community service (3 years), ~100 hours from that total
-Key Club (2 years)
-Calculus AP tutor/teacher’s aide (~20 hours last year, ~60 this year?)
-Algebra I repeaters program tutor (5 hours a week)
I have other ECs, but these are what I put in the spots on my app so I don’t think the rest matter, right :P

I’m majoring in math, so I hope the math tutoring will help me :stuck_out_tongue: We also take California Math League tests (its a competition and they rank us at school) and I’ve been on the top 5 for that for 3 years, this year I am #1 (yay!). I also got the top nomination for the senior school awards for the best student in math and English.

And also, I recently got that Regent’s scholarship from UC Irvine but I don’t know if that neccessarily means UCLA will like my app.

overture:

UCLA: Safe Match

Junior
California Resident
Female
Asian

Classes this year:
APUSH
AP Chemistry
AP Statistics
English 3 Honors [highest level of English available for juniors at my school]Trig/Pre-Calc
Accounting

*I was supposed to take French 3 this year, but because my school only offered French 3 7th period, and AP Chemistry was only offered 7th period, I was forced to choose between the two. I’m also taking AP Chemistry at a school in my district about 15 minutes away because my high school does not offer it. So I have to spend my lunchtime driving there every other day because of block scheduling

Classes my senior year:
AP English
AP Physics
AP Calculus AB
AP Government
French 3
3-D Design 1

** I had to take a Fine Art to graduate. This is probably waste of a period :/

Extracurriculars:
ASB Class Secretary Freshman and Sophomore Years,
Key Club Publicity Chair my Sophomore Year
Key Club Treasurer my Junior Year
very likely Key Club President my Senior Year
CSF/Honor Society Vice President Sophomore and Junior Years
Business Club President Junior Year
Varsity Tennis player since Freshman Year co-captain my Junior Year, will be captain again next year

Unfortunately, I’m not ranked in tennis in USTA or anything, something I regret not spending more time on.

I would also like to add that since my school doesn’t have a Business Club/FBLA [as many of you might notice, my school lacks a lot of things], that is a club I started this year, in hopes of just getting some members by the end of this year and then forming an FBLA my Senior Year. I am really interested in all the competitions FBLA has - not only because of the awards, but they genuinely sound interesting and fun to me [this probalby sounds nerdy haha].

SAT-I
2180
[690 Critical Reading, 720 Math, 770 Writing]
I took it December 2007, and am taking it again this coming March

I haven’t taken any of my SAT-II’s yet, but I’m planning to take those after AP testing
Most likely SAT-II Chemistry and SAT-II Math

GPA: 3.93 Unweighted
