UCLA: Reach

I heard that if you apply to UCLA with an undeclared major that it increases your chances. If this is true, would it make sense for me to apply undecided and then after I get accepted (if I do) to just switch to engineering?

i don’t know if it’s the same case with UCLA (it probably is), but UC Berkeley makes it really hard to switch in between colleges (for example, from letters of arts and sciences to something else). they know that people hear about “how one college of theirs is easier to get into than another” and they prevent that by creating a LONG application process to switch between the two.

and i don’t see how applying undeclared to ucla can increase your chances, because isn’t applying undeclared very very common?

hope that helps :)

I agree with drsarah. From what I hear, if you really want to do engineering, you might as well just apply to engineering. Chances are slim for internal transfer (between colleges).

Applying undeclared does nothing for your application. For better or for worse. It’s a neutral action to take.
