Essay: Apparantly pretty good
REC: Don't know but assume they're pretty good

Hook: been to over 30 countries, lived in four, fluent in three languages

your hook will work on Boston university especially since you don't want aid.

You are probably in at Babson too. Good luck!

Thanks all, can you guys also do safety, match, reach?

With a 3.18...Your school may be a tough private, but there are a lot of tough privates out there with people making higher grades.

Georgetown- Reach
NYU (Stern)- Reach
UCLA- Low Reach (maybe being a California resident with help here)
Boston University- Match
USC- Reach
Babson College- Match
University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign- Reach
Penn State University Park- Reach

I think you're definitely in at BU, but the rest are going to be tough with the low gpa. I still wish you the best of luck.

May I ask what your rank was, if you school ranks? or what percentage you were in?

I got in with a low GPA from a VERY tough school which held onto A’s and B’s as if they were gold. My GPA was higher than yours, but, I know of other graduates of my High School who were admitted with GPA’s lower than yours.

I don’t remember if it’s late to retake and submit your SAT’s, but, if not I would recommend trying to at least break 2050…

Every person from my school admitted sub-3.5 had at least a 2100…
I was 2310

You may get a supplemental application from UC if you are borderline… tradition states that this gives you a 50/50. For this reason, ensure that you current term grades are VERY high… I mean, WORK HARDER THAN YOU EVER HAVE BEFORE.
