Chance Me Please :)

Stats:
SAT I: 2150 (CR:710, M:770, W:670)

SAT II: Math I: 730
Literature: 710
French: 630 (:S)

ACT: 33 Composite (E:34, M:34, R:33, S:31), Writing Subscore: 10

I've only taken the tests once each so those are my highest and only scores.

GPA (my downfall): 4.35 in senior year, but cumulatively 3.6... I had one year where I moved schools and my grades really really suffered as a result. My counsellor tried to explain this in her rec but it still looks really bad. Our school doesn't rank (probably thankfully).

IB: I take the IB diploma, with an extra subject. I did an exam last year and got a 7 in it (SL Math). I am predicted 42 points.

ECs:
I can't be bothered to list them all out, but I've done a pretty diverse range of things (MUN, music, 3 sports, comm service, student government) and a lot of them to the highest level at school, which means travelling regionally. My "biggest" interest is in tennis as I've pretty much done that forever. I guess the flaw with my ECs is that I didn't really focus in one area, gave up some stuff after junior year and took up some new stuff at random points in time. Though I've done a lot, it all looks a little ad hoc and with no real focus.

Work Experience/Big Volunteer Stuff:
I've done a few internships, at a law firm, newspaper, research lab. Also volunteered as a teacher at a deaf school for a couple of months.

Reccs and Essays:
Both will be pretty good, one recc will be absolutely fantastic. My essays are not outstanding as yet but hopefully they will be :P.

Stuff:
My situation is pretty unique, I've moved to 11 schools (I'm an international student... I'm in an international school in Indonesia at the moment) and so I guess I have that thing of "diversity" that I've tried to play up on in my essays. My biggest downfall is my GPA, but this was truly because of a crazy move before my junior year that really hurt my grades.

I'm hoping to apply to: (in order of preference)
Wellesley
Barnard
Bryn Mawr
Cornell

Please be absolutely honest with my chances, and before anyone asks about safeties, I am also applying to the UK which is my safety net. I really just want an honest judgment as to how I will fare with these colleges...

Thanks so much!

Oh, just extra info: I'm female (obviously), am ethnically South Asian (grandparents from India), and am not applying for aid from anywhere.

imo you have good credentials....the fact that you don't have a focus in ECs is alright because the colleges can interpret that as an interest in different things..and I am pretty sure that moving and its impact on your gpa will be understood....you stand a pretty good chance for all them :)....i am also indian and have the same thing with numerous EC but I am more of a person who likes to dabble into things....what is your intended major?

Thanks for the encouragement, gp2008 :). I'm looking to major in either History or Women's Studies, depending on where I go.

Does anyone else have any idea of my chances at these colleges?

bump! Please guys, I need to know if I stand a chance in hell :S

is that gpa weighted? what is it out of?

Sorry, I didn't see this post for a while. Yeah, it's weighted. it's out of 4.67 (we have some weird weighting system). Bumping this again, I've applied now, but I really want to see where I stand just so I'm in for no shocks when decisions come in. Please be honest! I only applied to the 4 (Barnard, Bryn Mawr, Cornell, Wellesley).

I think you're just looking for an excuse to brag about your stats. What school are you applying to at Cornell? I applied ED Cornell, got in, but with lower stats, and less ECs. You have a chance. Too bad I rejected the acceptance to go to University at Buffalo.

?? I'm not bragging, my GPA is not high at all and the year I moved was my junior year which really impacted my grades. Thanks for the encouragement though, pippenfree. I'm applying to the School of Arts and Science. Isn't Cornell's ED binding?
