Chance Me, Please!

Wondering What you Think My Chances Are:

GPA: 3.95 (weighted), probably around a 3.75 uw
Rank: NA
SAT: 1400 or 2120 (CR- 750, M- 650, W- 720)
SAT II: US History- 690, Lit- 650
School: Attend a pretty competitive private Catholic school
AP: Junior Year: US History- 4, US Lit- 4
Senior Year: U.S Gov, Comparative Gov, British Lit

EC’s: Very politically active. Work for a political activist group, founded political activist group at my school; Editor of School Newspaper; Captain, Mock Trial (won state championship twice, competed in national tournament twice); Captain Model United Nations; Captain, Model Congress; Coordinator, program at Red Cross helping elderly use computers and email; Board Member, local Red Cross chapter;

Recs: Several good ones: one from my AP Lit teacher, didn’t read it; another from AP U.S. teacher, saying I am “one of the best public speakers in the country,” and “competitive for the nation’s top universities”; another from my boss at the political organization; a final one from the interim executive director of the red cross chapter

Essay: CommonApp about how living in NH has revealed to me my passion in politics; Optional essay discussed how I have always been a communicator: how communication is involved in all of my activities, but also how I love language, vocabulary, etc.

Interview: Didn’t have the opportunity to have one.

I applied RD from NH. What are my chances?

monkey throwing poop on a boat

For what it's worth (which isn't much), I think you have an excellent chance for admission if you are male, and a good chance if you are female.

Hope it goes well for you!

Your EC's are great, but your GPA is a bit low. Do you not have ranking at your school? Also your essays sound good but overall you really just want to make yourself stand out. And make sure that you use any extra space that they give you. Good luck and I think that you have a good chance getting in!

No, my school has a strict no rank policy (1st, 2nd, and 3rd are announced at graduation, but that's it). As far as my transcript, I know my GPA does not sound as high as others, but that can be really subjective. For what its worth, I have recived straight A's for all four years of HS, (minus one B+ sophmore year)...

So in other words, they rank but just don't tell anyone anything aside from the fact that "we don't rank, aside from the top 3 on the last day. " What a bunch of baloney. Aren't parents crying "foul?"

whistle pig's right, supposedly our school "doesn't rank" but they do. They just don't disclose the information to students or parents. My son's counselor told him where he stood in the class but when I inquired about my daughter (waited until after graduation) her counselor gave me a song and dance about not being allowed to reveal that information. Maybe the school systems are afraid of being sued or other equally dumb reasons.

Wow...................hmmmmm..................you could go either way. I just give my humble opinion and never know whether I'm right or wrong in my predictions because very rarely does anyone come back on and give the results.

Have you taken the toughest course load your school offers? Have you taken AP Caluculus? How many years of a foreign language do you have? All of this will come into play as I think you are on the fence. GPA is low. SAT scores are fine.

I wish you the best of luck and hope that you are admitted to William and Mary.

Hahahhahahahah my spelling SUCKS. Calculus!!!!!!! Hey, they admitted me, maybe you do have a chance!

Peace Out,
Pedsox

no, i haven't taken ap calculus...but i have taken honors math for 3 out of the four years in hs (minus soph year), i have taken 4 years of spanish, and i now take the highest level in my school...i also took latin junior year in addtion to spanish....

Well then with that many languages, you should be fine!

Jacque............"that many languages"................well, ummm.........that's two languages. Four years of Spanish and one year of Latin. That helps, but I think in this case, it will be the overall strength of the curriculum, and how prestigious his Catholic school is, etc. Not having AP Calc is not good in my opinion. Everyone on the face of the earth takes AP Calc in their Senior year. Maybe it's not offered?

How do you get straight A's, one B and have a 3.75?!?!?! That would mean you took 4 classes, three A's and one B = 3.75.

My post sounded a little harsh, but what I meant was I think your UW GPA must be higher than that. Sorry.

An unweighted "A" at my school is ranked as a 3.75.

AP Calculus helps, but there was a young lady in my daughter's graduating class who didn't take Calculus but took AP Stat instead and she was admitted ED.

thats dumb of your school they should make them 4. I think you should get in. i posted a chance me thread but no one replied. I think I am not going to get in and people just don't want to be mean.
