Manu, Unsure on Elon. In at Wooster, Ithaca and Vermont. Your SAT is good for Clemson but gpa is on the lower side so maybe. Wisconsin is a reach. Unsure on the others. Good luck!

GPA is not necessarily low. It might be low for average high schools in SC, but you are from MD. We attended an info session for a public U in NC. They specifically told us (most at that session were OOS) that if you are from certain states your gpa can be quite a bit lower bc they are well aware of grade inflation in their state, and that it is less so in other states (they named a few states, but I only recall that mine was one mentioned). Of course, this varies hs to hs to, but they did not discuss that. They are aware that not all gpas are equal.

Northeastmom, thanks, I didn't state that very well. His gpa is very good actually but when we visited Clemson we were told that most gpas were higher (3.7 range) and SATs where similar to what Manu had. Not sure if it was weighted or unweighted though. I know that they are trying to increase their ranking and are making admissions tougher.

Yea, I realize my GPA is my downfall, but i don't think it's terrible. I've been taking AP and Honors classes all of high school. My SATs are solid for the schools I'm looking at. It's just a concern I got deferred from Elon and rejected (today) from Babson.

Manu, sorry to hear about that. You will end up though at a good school whether it is Elon or one of your other choices. If you are interested in adding other good schools, Purdue and Indiana are still accepting applications and I believe you would get into both. Best of luck!

Manu, there are a few other deferred threads on here where others have suggested sending in another rec and having your gc call the school expressing your desire to go there, etc. Also, I still believe you have excellent chances at Wooster, Vermont and Ithaca. Best of luck!

I absolutely agree with Poi. If it would make you feel better, just submit another app. or 2 (safety schools that you would attend) with a 2/15 of later deadline.

poi and northeast mom, thanks for the input...i still haven't hearn from ithaca wooster or vermont, but we'll see.

northeastmom, could you give me a range of schools that i would have a solid shot at. i dont want to ask you to do my homework, i just dont know where to even start.

poi, my mom is really dead set against a big school for me. she knows how distracted i can get (like right now) and doesnt want that to be the case at a huge college like purdue or indiana. thanks for the input tho...

anyone else have suggestions?

yay for strangers telling me where to go college!

I am not sure which colleges have 2/15 or 3/1, or later, deadlines. There are lists though, and perhaps someone can post a list. I think that some college guides post schools with later deadlines. I think that you picked some schools that look like matches. If you want me to just list a few schools where your SAT scores fall within the midrange or better: how about Earlham, Allegheny, DePauw, Elizabethtown, Juniata, Guilford, Susquehanna, Quinnipiac (think that is rolling, so this might not work since classes might be filled, call and see how admissions works if interested), I see that you did not apply to your instate schools, but Towson is rolling, Drew, Moravian, Siena, Marist, Hartwick, American, Clark, St. Lawrence. These are just a few schools from the top of my head. There are many, many more. Read through deadlines, majors, financial and merit aid if it is important to your family, and about the schools to see which ones fit best. I suggest seeing your GC at school too. Actually, it looks like you like hot and cold weather, so might look at some schools in FLA too (ie: Rollins, Flagler, Eckerd) to see if any of those could work. Good luck!

Great news! Clemson is a very good school.

About DePauw, 75% of men are in frats, and 70% of women are in sororities. You might or might not like that, but I just wanted to let you know.

Have you heard from your other schools yet (besides Elon)? You have a very realistic list, IMO.

Since being deferred from Elon and Wisc I've only heard from Clemson. Ithacas website says they started notifying in January. Wooster and UPS should be coming soon.

Theyve all asked for my mid year grades. What are my chances for the rest of these, esp elon?
