My grandpa, who raised me when I was little, died my soph year and caused my grades to deteriorate (2 Cs)

im guessing at least waitlisted
i was accepted, and my gpa was 3.86 and my sats were like 40 above yours, and my ec's were basically a joke =D

to tip the scale in your favor, go do some interest-demonstrating (apply for scholarships even if you might not really need them, b/c who says no to free money, right? go bug the admissions office w/ semi-intelligent questions about the college, get an interview if you can, visit, all that good stuff). i myself didnt actually do any of this, but there's some noise that washu waitlists "those who are overqualified and dont demonstrate interest." i have no idea if this is true or just sour grapes, but i figgered it wouldnt hurt to express you love of the college, right?
me gusta your nonprofit thing and debate things. they'll prolly help a lot.

good luck!

You'll probably get in; I got in this year with a 2210 on the SAT. The situation with your grandfather will probably keep your grades from being an issue.

I think you have a good shot, especially if you apply ED

your scores are good, and so are your ECs probably. It will help if your GC or teacher explains the GPA issue. Applying ED can help, but in your case so would excellent grades first semester senior year...
