I am planning to apply to Northwestern, Duke, JHU, WU, Case Western, Umich, Brown University and Cornegie Mellon.

Definitely in to Case - my d with slightly less GPA & same ACT in there with LOTS of $$; she also got into Wash U. Can't speak to the rest but based on my general knowledge I'd say you're strong for most of them.

I think you definitely have a shot! Your ECs are impressive. I am guessing you want to major in pre-med (or something associated with it?) Best of Luck :)

You have a very strong chance of getting in! However, it all depends on how you present yourself in your application and, sometimes, the astrological alignment of Jupiter ;)

I was accepted with a less impressive application than yours, but I came from a small town with little to offer in terms of AP classes and ECs. However, I've heard stories of students with applications like yours getting turned down because they didn't take the time to write excellent admittance essays. Just be sure to keep up the good work and cross your fingers!

Looks pretty good. You've got as good of a chance as anyone.

Most of the asians who apply to WashU want to do premed...so make sure you stand out in your essays. Otherwise, everything looks great! good luck. (-:

You'll probably get in, as long as you don't make any spelling mistakes on your application :P

Well, I for one, had to submit to two corrections to my application when I applied to college. 1) screwed up extracurricular section 2) accidentally marking that i was Caucasian.

so, I don't think it matters that much or maybe I just got really lucky. :p

Go early decision! That and your impressive credentials should make you a shoo in.

Thank you all.

Emily , thanks for the input. I might move in that direction.

you'll be fine -- just try to avoid the infamous wait list (I guess show demonstrated interest?)

The Individual:

What do you mean show demonstrated interest? do I have to visit campus etc. please advise.

Thanks

Make phone calls, visit the campus, overnight stay, apply for scholarships, etc...

If you go ED, then I think its good enough.

Thanks RuralMinnesota. I have sent the pre application data sheet already and paid $50 application fee. All that I have to turn in the application now. Do you think that is good enough of demonstrated interest?

sure. If your parents make a lot of money but still can't afford 51k a year, then I suggest you write essays for scholarships too. They (Wash U) have tons of merit-based scholarships that you can apply for with a good essay and a few recs. Even if you don't get it, Wash U will like you for "showing interest" and probably give you a need AND merit based package. I love their fin. aid office so much LOL!
