In the next week, I will be starting my applications. I want to know what my chances are at the following schools: MIT, Stanford, University of Pennsylvania, Washington University in St. Louis, Cornell University, Vanderbilt University, University of California at Berkeley, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Georgia Tech, Olin College, Carnegie Mellon University, and Duke.

Also, I was planning on applying to Princeton, Harvard, or Yale. Which of the three do you think I have the best shot?

I am of Asian descent and these are my credentials:

National Merit Scholarship Qualifier

Umm, there isn't too much detail there, but I'd say you're in pretty much for sure at:

WUSTL
Vanderbilt
UC Berkeley
UNC Chapel Hill
Georgia
Carnegie Mellon

never heard of Olin.

Olin College is on my list because they offer full scholarships to every student they accept. I also heard that they are rising quickly on the nation's list of top colleges.

Also, I am a National Merit Semi-Finalist.

Seriously, I want to know which of the three colleges (Harvard, Princeton, Yale) I have the best shot at.

Ok so you especially want to know about HPY...go to....Uchance.com - Home I've heard it is fairly accurate. I plugged in your numbers and for H-23.58%, P-26.67% and Y- 25.26%. Of course it does not take into account essays and EC's...so you never know..
Good Luck! :)
chance me back...thanks!

So Princeton?

Also, any other opinions are appreciated.

Uchance.com is pretty bad.

UChance doesn't really help...

In that case, what are your personal opinions? I'm starting applications now and plan on applying ED to MIT. Also, I will most likely try for Georgia Tech Presidential Scholar.

Anyone else have an opinion?

First, it's EA at MIT.
Second, scores look great. Although, if you're going to apply to HYP, you need 3 SAT II's I believe. Double check that.
EC's show passion, very focused. But the fact that you're an Asian male doing math/science things will not help you too much because there are more qualified applicants out there with more impressive credentials.
However, I think you'll get in to most of the schools you have listed, but also don't be surprised if you get waitlisted at a couple of the top ones.
As for HYP, check that SAT II requirement, and apply to the one that YOU want to go, not which one is easier to get into.

I checked the SATII requirements for HYP, and HP need 3, Y needs 2. In any case, I'm planning on taking the SAT II Physics in November to make it 3.

I asked about HYP because I can't decide which, but I'll probably do a little more research before deciding for sure.

I just got my scores back for the September ACT, and this time, I got a 35 (33 R, 35 E, 36 M, 35 S, W pending)

I think you would have a good shot at Olin. FYI: They are also very serious about seeing that you have a "passionate pursuit" apart from academics. Good luck - it's a great school!

I got another 8 on the ACT essay...man my timed writing sucks.
