Chance me please...

I am applying for 2009 entrance. And I am living in China and am a Chinese student so a lot of stuff doesn’t apply to me. But still I am dying to know my chance of getting in Williams. I am seriously considering applying early.

You look like a very competitive applicant...a little intimidating, in fact, especially for people like me. :)

Incidentally, didn't you post the same on the Midd decision board? Are you thinking about one or the other for ED?

People like you really should stop posting on these forums...it intimidates and scares the normal people out there...

Teltar I don't know which part of my list seem intimidating... I don't think I am one of those shiny resume people. Which is why I am eager to be chanced.

Yes, I am torn between Williams and Midd for ED. I really can't decide.

I'd say you have a decent chance in both schools as long as your essay and recs are solid and the admissions officers believe your stats (since they seem somewhat superhuman). Williams and Midd are my top choices as well, and if all their applicants were of your caliber...I would be frightened.

Teltar, here's to "normal" people! :) Sometimes I can't get over statistics...I'm always thinking, "Wow, an admissions officer would have to be crazy to accept me with all these super-people." Good times.

Good luck, seraph, I think you'll get into either one!

What activities are you thinking about writing on your application? It doesn't matter how many things you've done (which by the way is absolutely amazing) if you aren't going to write them down. There's only 7 spots plus additional information, and it isn't a good idea to write everything in if you can condense and get rid of the smaller ec's.

Good luck! You seem like a good candidate.

thanks a lot for the tips. I am not sure, proabably those I've done the longest and those in which I have leading position. But I am not thinking about filling up forms these day. Writing the essay is killing me...

Go Midd. And, I say this as one who loves Midd... and as a Lord Jeff.

If your "accolades" are as impressive as they seem, you should have an excellent chance at Midd, and a great chance at Williams.

Have you had the opportunity to visit both schools?

I've heard that both Williams and Middlebury would actually pay your airfare to visit.

A select number of US schools can fill themselves to the rafters with students with fabulous stats. I think the dean of Yale once said that they could replace the incoming class with those on the wait list and you would never notice the difference. If you apply ed make it clear as best you can why you want to go to Williams. Since they don't do interviews and don't have a why I want to go to Williams essay, you need to do it with your application. What do you offer that they want as a part of the mix in building a class.

Thanks. Do I need to check out these schools characteristics and match them with my strengths? Or should I just present myself regardless of the school?
By the way, I really don't get why people are that impressed with my list. What part? Before this, I have always been ashamed of my few activities because I was classmate with many who traveled around the world and did great thing...

You mean you don't even check what kind of schools they are? I bet you get near perfect scores cramming like crazy but for what???? what do you want to do with your life after college? What is your goal?

No no, that's not what I meant. I did check out both schools pretty well, from videos, webdescription and people who I know who went there. Also I do have a clear vision of my future path( though I prefer to keep in private for now). I just need to know whether I should talk about the school in my application because a lot of people suggested my to focus on myself.

go wherever you want! =D

hi everyone. A lot of people suggested me that I put everything in my resume into one page. But now it just looks like a laundry list that people hate. Do you think I should expand it and give detailed explanation of the msot important activities? My original resume was 10 pages but now it is only one.
