Hi college8591!

At first glance, I can tell that you need to do some narrowing down of your college list. It’s simply too long. You should weed out a few schools so that you should have about 6 or 7 schools on hand. That way, you can spend as much time as you need on your apps. It’s better to have quality than quantity.

Your GPA of 3.96 UW is impressive, coupled by the fact that you have 7 AP classes. That is above average for the state schools you’re applying to and just about average for the top schools. Your ACT of 31 is very good; however, if you do want to do a retake, try to bump that up to a 32 or even a 33. Your scores seem to be pretty even across the board here, but you might want to spend a little more time on the reading test, which is arguably the hardest to crack test on the ACT. A note about honors: Honors does not mean “honor society” – rather it means awards that you’ve won (say, district champions in soccer finals or National Merit Semifinalist). Thus, your NHS/NAHS etc etc should belong in extracurriculars. You seem to be quite involved in school, but the activities that you do may be a little trivial for college admission officers. However, if you do truly enjoy being part of Key Club or Beta Club, demonstrate your passion in your essays and you’re good to go.

Overall, you are a strong student who has done very well in school.

Chances:
Vanderbilt: Match
Rice: Match
Duke: Slight reach
Stanford: Reach (for everyone that is)
UFL: Safety match
UA: Safety
JHU: Slight reach
WUSTL: Slight reach
Cornell: Match
UNC: Safety
Emory: Match

Good luck!

Thanks! Yeah, I should probably limit a few of those colleges, it’s hard since I really haven’t visited any… I’m just basing this off of my major and what I’ve HEARD of each one.
