i dont have time to chance u for everyone of em but i will make some general comments.

4.21 unweighted GPA? I dont know if its different in ur school but 4.0 is pretty much the highest unweighted GPA u can have in a US high school.

ur scores are def way way too low (much below average) for about 90% of those schools. (sorry if that sounded harsh though). yeah def retake them but u have to improve them ALOT

last of all if ur applying to all of those, u will probably get into at least 3 minumum and 8 maximum. (with the current scores, but ur EC’s are well enough)

because ur Asian and dont have near spectaculur scores it will be extremely hard for u to get into all the ivies u listed (all those ivies are definite high reaches for u) plus two or three of the other schools.

I agree with naughty gravy’s confusion about your GPA.

With the scores you have now:

Rutgers University - New Brunswick–don’t know enough about this.
NYU–probably not
BU–maaaaybe
Cornell–no
UPenn–no
Brown–no
Yale–no
Stanford–no
Univ. Southern California–possibly
UCLA–maybe
UC Berkeley–no
UC Santa Barbara–no
Columbia–no
Princeton–no
Northwestern–highly unlikely
Vassar–maaaaybe
Amherst–highly unlikely
Rice–highly unlikely
Dartmouth–no
Notre Dame–possibly
Duke–no
UChicago–no

Sorry, but I think you need to re-search and look for schools that will be a better match for you. Either that, or find a way to significantly boost your scores.

i’m sorry, i meant to say 4.21 weighted. And what do you guys think I have to improve? I mean, my guidance counselor says I have shots at Vassar, Amherst, UCLA, definitely Santa Barbara, already got in Rutgers, reach for Columbia, reach UChicago, and reach Northwestern

well ur sat scores most importantly. at least by 100 in math. and why u taking lit and history sat 2’s if ur intention is neuroscience? (that doesn’t make sense at all). u gotta take bio or chem or math 2 at least and get at least 700’s on them. and ap scores are not good either considering ur intended major (should have gotten at least a 4 in chem but there is no way u can change those now.

but yeah u do got shots at the ones ur counslor says u got shot at.

It’s the scores, like I said. If your essays and recs are fabulous, the scores might not matter so much. And maybe I’m giving them too much weight. But they’re several hundred points shy of the requirements for a lot of those schools.

You really need to bump up the SAT to be competitive at many of these.

What’s your uw gpa (since all schools weight differently)?

Also, just looking through your ecs, it looks like you have some interesting things going for you. However, it seems like your hour totals might not be totally accurate… i added up the hour totals you’d given for 12th grade, and you would be doing an average of about 7.5 hours of ecs per day year round. If that’s accurate, props to you, you must have a superhuman lack of need for sleep. If that doesn’t sound quite right, I’d double check the hour totals before submitting them.

haha. people in my school think i’m crazy. doing all these things, but i assure you the hours are correct. in the summer, it’s even crazier.

and UW gpa is a 4.0, that’s what my counselor put down on his recommendation.

and one quick question, do you guys really think i’m a high match for southern cal? why do you think it’s so easy to get in?

high match means it is almost a reach.

me thinks.

bump this please

bumpidity bump bump.

ok so guys, i really want to get into UCLA, USC, and Berkeley, where do you think i stand?

wow dude 13 EC’s seriously? can you say… INFLATION?

you have to take into account that most of these EC’s are seasonal, so at any one time, at the most, i’m only doing 4 or 5.

I honestly have to say that the sheer number of EC’s does not make you look good. Having 4 or 5 EC’s at a time is too many and doesn’t show commitment therefore showing your need for breadth rather than depth which is what colleges now look for.

but, i am involved extensively in a lot of my EC’s. Have leading role in a lot of them and spend a lot of time in each one. I thought my passion for EC’s would help my app instead of hurting me.

I’m not an adcom, I can’t tell you what they’re thinking, but it’s just my opinion. If you want a more accurate answer, ask some college counselors who actually know what they’re talking about.

u will definetely get into ucla because u play tennis and so do i! they said that u have a really high chance if u play a sport and u play many sports :D

raiderade, i’m sure you must be speaking on some sort of basis. and thankyou lolindiangrl91. nice to have some positive feedback.
