Personal statements critiqued by my parents and english teachers - the best I've written so far.

My advice when writing personal statements: Be yourself! Do not create an imaginary you just to impress the admissions people. They will know.

Nyumin...how in the world will you have taken 17 APs by the end of HS...or is it that you've taken 3 and are currently taking 7? If so, then AP with distinction is impossible cuz u need at least 5....

And if ur post was correct...just how. Are there even that many AP exams? Would you mind listing them?

^ Totally possible. I took/currently taking 15 APs total:
AP French Lang
AP French Lit
AP English Lang
AP English Lit
AP Bio
AP Physics B
AP Calculus AB
AP Chemistry
AP Psychology
AP US History
AP European History
AP World history
AP US gov
AP Art 2 D
AP Art Studio

I also self studied for Chinese and took that as well.

So to a grand total of 16

It's because my school offers that many AP courses and allows people to take 6 each year starting from sophomore year. Also you can also self study, it's totally possible

doubt no more, upw22. here's my line of AP courses and scores.

Freshman - AP Human Geography (5)
Sophomore- AP World History (4), AP Biology (4), AP Art Studio(4)
Junior - AP US History (3), AP Chemistry(5), AP Physics B (5), AP English Language(4), AP Art History (5), AP Statistics (3)
Senior (currently taking) - AP Calculus AB, AP Government, AP Macro Economics, AP European history, AP 3D Art Design, AP English Lit, AP Psychology

I am also working on my senior thesis which is just as hard as an AP course.

My school offers 32 out of 37 AP courses. It is impossible to take all. That's why we have to choose a program of study in our freshman year. I am more interested in Arts and Humanities so I loaded my AP coursework with history and art courses. Hope this helps.

ahhh hahaha thats great, very impressive too (both of you above)

have fun studying in april :) lol

is your school nationally ranked?

my school offers about half the amount of AP's your school does...and it's ranked 100th nationally for public (by which ever news company ranks by passing grades on AP's and how many kids matriculate...i forget which company this is though)

CollegeDK, unfortunately, not all IVies offer the same eclectic environment as NYU. It wasn't a hard choice. My passion is in fine arts and humanities. I want to attend a college that does not confine me to a classroom with four walls. What better classroom to be in than the New York city.

upw22, at our school, everyday is treated like any day in April. Yes, our school is ranked nationally in the top 20 high schools in the US by US News Report, Newsweek, and Princeton review.
